If Cuba can hang in there 5-10 more years the USA won't have the ability to do this anymore because the USA is on its economic deathbed and the rest of the nations of the world won't take orders from it anymore. To some degree Cuba's quality of life will improve almost overnight. The USA will have to quietly rescind its policies and will pretend like the USA and Cuba have been best of buds forever just like in the book 1984.
