Anonymous Coward User ID: 78016975 Netherlands 09/22/2021 03:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok I got a response from Coinbase Saying my account was hacked. (And My ANKR and ADA are history) can anyone decipher part of this if I post it? Not sure how they did it. I do not understand CB I think something on their system may of been compromised. Not sure how attackers got MY CB account access and My Cell phone number and Email at the same time . Unless I am to naïve to think Coinbase could be hacked. Quoting: JF Priest If you redact any personal info, give it a post. Coinbase can absolutely be hacked. They don't insure the exchange, only their cold storage. That's for a reason, because they know their limitations. I seriously hope you get this rectified because I know what I went through with my experience and it was hell. Thanks for contacting us. We appreciate your effort in bringing this to our attention, and we know how important this is for you. Apologies for the delay in our response. We see that you completed the account recovery process, and you should now be able to sign in to your Coinbase account. You may have already been aware that our records indicate that your account was accessed on 2021-09-04 from the IP 198.54.134.132, using a Windows 10 device. This IP authenticated with your password, your 2FA security codes and the device confirmed via hyperlink sent to your email. This means the attacker had access to your password, 2FA security codes and email to conduct this activity. Using these compromised credentials, they were able to initiate the following external send: 2021-09-04, 09:04:30 PDT - xxxxxxx BTC - xxxxxxxxx Please know that all cryptocurrency transactions that are confirmed on the blockchain are irreversible. Coinbase has no information on ownership of external cryptocurrency addresses, and because this is an external process, there is no way for Coinbase to cancel, reverse, or recover these funds on your behalf. Also, please note you are solely responsible for the security of your devices, passwords, email and 2-factor phone codes. It is imperative that you report this incident to law enforcement agencies in your jurisdiction immediately, including the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) here: [link to www.ic3.gov (secure)] Be sure to include as much detail as possible in your report. While Coinbase cannot reimburse this transaction, Coinbase is willing to offer full cooperation with all law enforcement investigations relating to unauthorized activity on your account. Anonymous Coward User ID: 78016975 Netherlands 09/22/2021 03:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They had my Phones account number and had it shut down and ported elsewhere. I got an email from CB saying you transferred ADA and ANKR to BTC Via Coinbase pro and I was like wtf?/ Quoting: JF Priest This is the Message that I saw when I copy/paste their wallet address. This address has transacted 94 times on the Bitcoin blockchain. It has received a total of 0.93294917 BTC ($38,246.41) and has sent a total of 0.93294917 BTC ($38,246.41). The current value of this address is 0.00000000 BTC ($0.00). Had you been using the Google Auth App for your code instead of sms, none of this would've happen. Even if you used a different phone or 2FA method for your email than you use for your CB account; none of this would've happen. Not to mention that if all your assets were in the coinbase 48 hour vaults you would've had several texts and emails sent too two separate email accounts alerting you of a vault withdrawal request; this alone would've given you 48 hours to stop it all! Sorry to hammer it hard, but you didn't value your assets hard enough to maximize all the security options CB offers you to use. Sadly just using Google Auth alone would have stopped all this. Not to bust your balls however it makes me mad to see people get ripped off when they could've prevented it. I yelled on here and many other places how to simply secure your assets on Coinbase many times. I've been in this space for several years and OPSEC and paranoia has been front and center for me from day one! You need to be on guard 24/7. Being stupid and not using auth and also using SMS is your FOLLY here. Plenty of people have explained this. Why didn't you use the coinbase vaults too?????? You should've known better mate! cheers |

(sorry i dont add much) anyone want to talk about bitcoins ETF? Quoting: T-Man what does it even mean? people can either buy BTC or stocks in BTC based on the price of BTC? lol what? i havent studied it but i assume its similar to buying paper silver or gold on the stock market via PSLV ect. if people buy 10 mill worth of shares the etf buys 10 mill more worth of BTC minus fees. and vice versa with selling BTC. there might be a price mismatch people can exploit id think I back up that SMS is complete shit for security, even if some wagie at ATT doesnt strait up take a bribe, i hear "hackers" can use a call in in system with identity thefted info to swap out your sim card. Its better to have no 2 factor than SMS based. also linux>windows for hacker protection and i dont trust android either. also from the tweet you linked André Casterman @AndreCasterman Replying to @VICTORIA_XDC A matter of days now … next 3 weeks will bring multiple proof points starting on 28/09; it’s not about patience, it’s about the quality of the initial implementations; 9 months for a baby; same to bring $XDC in the 19 trillion USD #tradefinance asset class with top #tradetech can someone explain wtf this means to me? the more detail the better. so that big trade finance org they got added too with 19 trillion assets traded will use xdc in 9 months and we will get proof of this in 6 days???? |
