I just read a report that said they felt the D-dimer was elevated because the spike protein was lodging in the lining of the capillaries, alerting the White blood cell that something is wrong & that bleeding may be occuring. This leads to the production of micro-blood clots in the capillaries. Most times, they cannot be seen with a scan, but they have found them on autopsy. Mostly in the lungs, the heart & brain. One can only imagine what happens as this progresses.
