Hero is actually taken from Hiero (Hierophant) A man (chief priest) initiated into the higher mysteries. Basically an illuminated man.

And this is what the "elites" fear, that a popular leader will come who is of the higher mind, able to out-think them and lead the brainwashed multitudes out of their slavery to the system.

In fact this is partly what the vaccines are for, to stop the route to the pineal forever. If you take the vaccine, it's literally spiritual death. They've been working on this game plan for a very long time. Fluoridated water was just a stop-gap, the vaccine is permanent.

I never liked the hierophant card. It's one of faith sure, but unlike the high priestess, it's a blind faith. One that is carried out thru order and obeys rules just because it was taught to do so by those who initiated him. He doesn't actually believe, he has no connection to the dogma he preaches.
In my deck there are two people in the crowd in front of him. One holds a triangle and a rod and the other has a dagger behind his back. Likely it means some will follow and ask for divine guidance, others will seek to remove the false prophet from his throne.
