Genetic sequencing and viral isolation are 2 different things.

I know with bacterial isolation, different species give different chemical reactions. The isolation starts with the selection of agar. Then is grouped by gram pos or neg and aerobic or anaerobic, CO2, X and Y factors (chocolate agar).

I do not know how to sequence the nucleic acids or any viral isolation techniques. Viruses are nothing like bacteria. Maybe I will search it to give you a better answer. Maybe not. Definately not tonight.
