His position requires email use all day, so it's been an adjustment to say the least, but then this happens... Quoting: Daniel's Window He received an email addressing He/She/They, now given that his position is also strictly confidential in many cases, kept only between the two persons communicating, he questioned the sender on what the They meant. He didn't understand, and was concerned that there was more than just the sender communicating within the email. Legit concern, right? He received a very VERY nasty response from the sender stating that they were greatly offended, that he/she identified as They and was subsequently accused of being a racist white supremacist. A short while later he was then called in for a meeting with his boss and his/her/they's boss, right on up the ladder, and was severely reprimanded as well as being threatened with being terminated as well as socially cancelled. UN-FUCKING-REAL!!! So you can program a key command to insert text. A shortcut key for things like your email address etc. I programmed the following text with a key command: “(The pronoun often preferred by humans who for some reason either do not know or cannot decide between ‘he’ or ‘she,’ not the pronoun traditionally used to refer to many people or the plural of ‘he’ or ‘she’)” Then, every time I have to use the silly preferred pronoun, I paste the shortcut text above. Makes the email so annoying to read, and is an effective passive protest to the new preferred pronoun policy. Kinda like slapping a “HONK IF YOU ARE NOT A RACIST!” Bumper sticker on your favorite libs car. Highlights the stupidity. |
