There’s an old documentary somewhere in my collection about physical evidence and a guy had one. It looked to be about 10” long and looked like cooled slag. They cut the front off and sent it to several labs including los alamos, all results came back not from this planet.

Sorry guys. It's a BALOON. That started to burn. Usual here in Brazil between June and August, due to local religious fests (St.John, St. Peter). They're similar to chinese lanterns, only differs in format and fueling. Actually there're tournments in many places (size, autonomy, beautiness, accompanying fireworks for instance) and several cause firings when fall over houses or dry vegetation.
