This is nothing new. Water treatment plants have been around for ever.

Houston municipal water is the absolute gross. Until I bought a shower filter, my gf was always itching and white crap coated the walls and shampoo bottles. Some people say it's hard water. I don't care what you call it. It's still shit to me.

I remember taking a field trip for school as a kid back in the early 70's to one of these plants. This was in Southern California also. So they have been doing this for years. I remember it stank there. But basically the water comes in thru filters then into these large vats that have this particular bacteria that eats all the crap that wasn't filtered out. Finally, you have clean water. The crap that is filtered out is dryed out and sold to farmers in the form of these bricks of fertilizer.

Now you know why it is important to brush and floss at least twice a day.

This process assumes that the waste water is only composed of water, urine, and feces. Unfortunately there are people who flush all sorts of things, including medications, down their toilets -- and such things are NOT filtered out in the sewage plants.

I just bought a bottle of recycled water from our local organic store. It's not bad. I think it's french "aqua de culo". The aftertaste is a little bitter.

Um, here's a reality check....we ALL are. Water is only recycled not replenished....

The water we drink has been recycled since earth first started housing water.

Yea, this has been going on for years. You only know about it now? The biggest problem I see is the use of antibiotics and other meds from people in major cities. They can filter out the bacteria, etc. that can make people sick, but it doesn't mean you're not getting a dose of meds from someone else when you get a glass of water from the tap.

And people laugh when I buy bottled spring water.

Dude i could swear that practise is USED in FLORIDA too!!!...i hated being down there.Whenever i got near a faucet it smelt of cesspool.

Any large river such as the Ohio or Mississippi serves as a repository of treated sewage wastewater and a source of drinking water.

The Ohio river starts in downtown Pittsburgh and passes Wheeling, Cincinnati and other cities before it empties into the Mississippi. By the time you get to St. Louis or Memphis on the Mississippi, you are drinking plenty of chemicals that passed through someone else's body including caffeine and prozac.

What's really great, though, is that you never drink from the same person's body-waste twice. Well, unless Hitler, Napoleon, and Socrates emptied their bladders on more than one occasion, that is??? Hardy Har har...
