SARS-CoV-2 variants, spike mutations and immune escape – an update Globally, four “Variants of Concern” have been identified: B.1.1.7 (also named “Alpha” by the WHO) was first detected in Kent and is more transmissible than the original virus from Wuhan B.1.351 (“Beta”) and B.1 (“Gamma”) first detected in South Africa and Brazil, respectively, are more transmissible than the original virus and have some degree of immune evasion. Another variant, the B.1.617.2 (“Delta”), first detected in India, is now spreading in the UK and numerous other countries. It is the cells that produce the spike proteins using the injected mRNA "blueprint" to cause an immune response. The mRNA vaccine doesn't contain any spike proteins, those are created in vitro once the vaccine is injected. DOOM is what you make of it. |
