*each division in the cone is 12 hour increments - the next three are cat 2, cat 3 and cat 4 over 36 hours. It could conceivably intensify quicker because there is Nothing standing in its way

If Ida becomes a category five hurricane it will be the seventh in six straight years a trend that is unprecedented in recorded Atlantic hurricane history.

Matthew, Irma, Maria, Michael, Dorian and Iota. Two weeks prior to Iota, Eta was a high-end cat 4 as some say Iota was and made landfall just 15 miles apart in November.

Dorian destroyed my childhood home in the Bahamas. It was insane. I was there. It was so depressing I starting drinking again after 5 years of sobriety.

Dorian was a nightmare in the Bahamas. No one should have to experience that.

Cordless reciprocating saw/sawzall (w/ 2 charged batteries and spare bimetal/wood blades)is a better plan.
Ever tried to chop UPWARDS on bouncy plywood with a not so sharp axe with severely limited space to get a good swing?

circular saw would be better than an axe also - although a sawzall is more adaptable once you get a good plunge cut going

Why would there be a run on gasoline in Dallas? Kinda far from the action don't you think?

I believe that if it will in fact strengthen, it will go a little more east of Mardi Gras Ville (New Orleans). I might be wrong, but if I follow what I’ve been learning from meteorologists over the years (which is just a repetition of my 2 other posts in this thread) this will go most east (which will be good for NO).

From my knowledge, hurricane are driven by 2 things, fronts (for steering), water temp (the warmer the higher the strength).

Additionally, just to let all the people who are new to this type of weather system, hurricanes have the worst winds on the south east quadrants.

Another addition, winds do not kill people, water surges do. So you might be experiencing a cat 1 or cat 2, and you think, okay its not bad, but then the water come rushing in… Obviously this all depend on where you live. But I guarantee, if you live near the water, and you live any the shore of the USA and located on the east side of the eye of a hurricane, you are screwed.

Absolutely the east side is often the worst side in counterclockwise cyclones.

Ida might be well developed and balanced due to not much shearing, which can equate to trouble for all sides.

Heavy rain on the north and south sides with a little break for the eye passing over anyplace it goes and of course the wind and surge is worse.

Lots of flooding in the Mississippi delta for sure. Strom surge warning is 85 miles long inland from the coast.

If Ida hits NOLA as a cat 4.... Man, Biden can't catch a break, lol. He ain't gonna make it.

He needs a sharpie map update stat

I haven't been paying attention to the news and saw a guy filling up about 5 gas containers at the gas station, now I know why. Hopefully this storm will putter out before it makes landfall.

NHC: life threatening water inundation for LA, MS and AL coasts.

9 inches of rainfall plus up to 15 feet of storm surge near landfall.
