9 essential amino acids (EAA) the body can't create itself.

All 9 are found in a variety of non-animal sources. Chia is one of them, so you got that right. Quinoa, buckwheat, hempseed, pumpkin seed, chickpea, mung bean, soy bean (must eat fermented), and more.

Another myth is "complementary protein" meaning if you are eating some veg foods lacking one or more EEA's that you must eat another veg containing the missing EEA at the same meal. But those EAA's remain in circulation for up to 3 days, so you have a 3 day time window to eat a food with the EAA you may have missed. But if you eat a meal of rice and beans, all 9 are covered.

Lysine is the EAA least found in plant protein. Vegans need to be certain to eat alot of those veg sources that contain it.

But veganism is stupid IMO. I always advise against it, but can guide someone who is dead set on it so they don't waste away and go crazy or die untimely.

Then there are milk products, which are a source of all 9 EAA. And eggs of course. Whey protein is probably the most plentiful and concentrated source of ALL 20 amino acids that you can eat, and includes other minerals and substances that build the immune system.

The big limitation in avoiding meat is missing out on the concentration of minerals found in meats. And genetically most people are suited to meat eating and have a hard time extracting all they need from vegetarian meals only. It takes time for the body to adjust and some people just don't.

This is why you encounter mental illness in so many long term veggies and VEGANS especially. Not enough essential minerals, and they don't choose the correct protein combinations.
