It was lesser in magnitude .Just checked EMSC CSEM and there weren't any quakes above 3 back in December.And this swarm has more quakes than December one .At least 500 in 24 hours

Watch not only for magnitudes of quakes but also for depths .Lesser depths occuring in near future means that magma intrusion is moving to the surface

I have just checked and you are correct OP. However,it is wise to be aware without over worrying

DC is far enough inland to be spared the brunt of 100-foot waves I think

disclaimer... not a seismologist but I am a geologist. The swarm is concerning because of magnitude and number of quakes. Keep an eye on depth changes. They have progressed to the 9-10km range which is where most magma chambers are located. From here the big give away for eruption will be shallower depths but also a ceasing of quakes. If the quakes stop abruptly GTFO.

That much water will roll right over Delaware, swell the Chesapeake and push right up the Potomac as well…DC will get the firehose treatment.

Being aware of things that happen is always better than ignoring it.GLP broke this news first .I really hope it will be just Strombolian type of eruption at worst .Meaning just lava steaming into the air not harming anyone ,no landslide.But we have to be vigilant

-Travel a few hundred miles per hour
-Seven hours to reach NYC

Long island would go underwater for a time
So would Florida
A few dozen nuclear reactors would be Fukushima, or worse
Hudson River would flood all the way to Albany
Could be one large one or several smaller ones.
