Volcano off El Hierro is just 70metres away from the surface and is spewing magma 20metres into the sky
Nearby town is evacuated and ships banned from travelling to the area as strong smell of sulphur fills the air
Explosive plumes and jets have been spotted coming from the volcano for the last month

it would never collapse in one giant slide, there'd be a series of much smaller ones over time.

not that i look forward to a constant threat of 10-20 foot tsunamis....i'm in NYC.

USGS is not showing ANY of this activity.....

even that size would still kill quite a few people and cause millions if not billions in damage. Then again way Deblasio is running that city..he's probably already done that kind of damage on his own

I can't imagine how bad it would be on Canary Islands .I heard that water dome would reach 1000 meters near place of landslide.But it's just theory.Think about throwing extremly big object to the pool .At first dome is huge then it get's smaller

Wrong. Volcanoes collapse all the time (on a geologic time scale not human). La Palma is old with many fractures and those have been infiltrated by sea water. The flanks of the volcano are not really stable.
