Cumbre Vieja volcano post eruption phase! Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :)

So let's just say I'm in Miami. I'm not packing,sorry but I go to bed and turn in. Suddenly ! I'm awakened and there is a siren going off and it's 2 am!!! How long would it take for the giant wave to hit and could Florida evacuate in time ? Asking for a friend and I'll take the answer off the air,thanks. I'm guessing it wouldn't be good.

You would have like 8hrs seems to be the consensus.

Don't forget that also, there's no guarantee that the whole flank would fall off. It could be small chunks, could be none.

So while nobody needs another thing to worry about, don't worry but pay attention.

Hopefully in a week or two this thing just stops doing what its doing and we can forget about it again!

next quake coming in the next few mins... if next ones are 8km then 6km eruption imminent within 3-4 days

I googled a map of the cities that are closest to the
La Palma volcano--there appear to be 2 cities that are
closest to the volcano. Wondering what they are telling
the folks in those cities if anything...hmmm....

Of course, in the event of a tsunami from a landslide there
the coastal cities on the west flank of the volcano/island
would be most impacted...and there are a few for sure.

Need to check out where the airport is located. Oh...well
at least that is good news. The airport that would both
monitor any activity with the landslide area and with the
evacuation/rescue efforts is on the OPPOSITE SIDE of the
island...and with the elevation of the mountain they may
be o.k. Depends on how big the eruption will be if it
happens.

If living in Florida, a perpetually updated bugout bag is as crucial and easily-located as the household fire extinguishers - just a beach thang; with a food bugout bag (or box), same. GOM Hurricanes, raised with. Just look at the scouring of our southern coast by eons of hurricanes. Yes, I'd worry and use the non-occurrence of this to bulk up my prepitide in general, living in Florida, a gorgeous place, and all.

I don't know much about E.Q. stuff. I do believe THEY can trigger stuff :weather,fires,E.Q 's bio weapons,elections,media. Now with the doom in Kali ,Newsom not getting fired and the Covid fiasco THEY might need a distraction ...Just sayin...

Shallow earthquakes (about 2 km (1.2 miles) or shallower) can be a sign that magma is moving inside the volcano and closer to the ground surface.

The closer magma is to the surface, the more likely it is than an eruption may occur soon."

Another more sedate article (from Spain). They seem pretty convinced this will not be an explosive erruption but an effusion. That's like you open a soda bottle and it foams over but doesn't really go spouting straight up. Just balancing the info here:

For this reason, seismic activity has been felt especially in the Cumbre Vieja de La Palma, 22 kilometers from Teneguía and at a depth of about 9 kilometers.

An effusive eruption on La Palma
D'Auria warns that many times magmatic processes occur inside volcanoes that do not end in eruption, so that could be a possibility. But, in the event of an eruption, it would be effusive: "That means there are no explosions, or at least not of relevant intensity. This poses a danger to some structures but not to the populations, it will not be a tragedy. . The canaries should be used to this, it has to be normal ".

I was listening to Diamond's 2 videos and wondering what
number of cities were on the Island. Of course, if the
tsunami is generated, unfortunately the WHOLE CHAIN would
be affected, depending on the size of the wave--but the
eruption too would be a factor. It's like a ONE-TWO-PUNCH.

oH...You know what "epiphany" I had this afternoon following
the thread?

I have hosted a couple of threads on the world's most
ANCIENT DISASTER SYMBOL (called the "Argha Noa" and named
by the ancient Egyptians.) In the threads I've hosted I was
always leaning towards that symbol being a SPACEWEATHER
SYMBOL due to finding this EXACT pattern for the Argha Noa
on the surface of Jupiter after a meteor impact...I thought
for SURE that was what the symbol represented:

1/2 crescent.


"Argha Noa" is at the bottom of the carving
while that odd symbol ABOVE IT...could be a BROKEN
ISLAND IN 1/2 WITH THE CALDERA BEING THE AT THE CENTER?

Oh my, EQ's are a natural earth process. EQ's can be triggered by removing ground water. However, humans do have the capability to control EQ's. We cannot cause the plates to move. The plates are always moving and sometimes they move big and you get a big earthquake. Read up on plate tectonics or take Geology 101.

Well that changes a lot. That means there's either finger filtration going on or we're gonna have a huge explosion. These haven't really been releases of energy these have been building of energy pockets and these particle masses are going to be extreme

Apparently if there's a lot of gas trapped because the magma is high viscosity, very thick (or as Mr. Pillar was saying--maybe water is introduced) you can get an explosive eruption.

Otherwise, you would have low viscosity magma and that would allow the gas to escape easily as the liquid won't hold it as a thicker liquid would. This is when you get an effusion where it kind of bubbles over instead of exploding.

It makes sense. The question is: are they sure what they've got in there? I hope so and I hope it's low viscosity magma.
