Re: Cumbre Vieja volcano post eruption phase! Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :)
I was just looking up the seismic precursors leading up the Mt. Helen eruption in 1980 and found this article....

Speaking on a 5.1 magnitude quake 2km below the surface:

"The bulge began to collapse and slip down the mountain, thereby producing the largest historically recorded landslide-debris avalanche. Almost one cubic mile of rocks raced down the flank with speeds of up to 150 miles per hour, devastating everything in a 24 square mile area north of the volcano.

But it got even worse. Until the bulge began to slide, its weight had kept the magma under Mount St. Helens at bay. However, once this lid was off, the pressurized magma violently made its way to the surface, thereby blowing away the summit of Mount St. Helens. The rest is history:"

In summary, the quakes become more shallow as the primary precursor to an eruption. In 2017 La Palma had some 450 quakes at a depth of 20-30 km. We have quakes at less than 2 km depth at La Palma happening today!

So in the event of a large tsunami, what can the states in the Gulf of Mexico from Texas to Florida expect?

Go on that site and a wave of 30 feets is equal of 10 meters. Add this elevation and you will see where to go

^ Imagine of the thousands of quakes over fast few days in La Palma.

These quakes have been so shallow, and progressivly moving closer to the surface, till just today we're only 1-2 KM away... interesting in a 80 million people might die sort of way...

Yep, bringing this visualization to the front. Really shows how quickly it has escalated.

i've read that it will take nine hours to reach the east coast and that it will be the largest loss of life in history with 65M dead.
 Quoting: thetrickybigguy

If there’s a nine hour notice, isn’t that enough time formost people to get to higher ground or away from the coast? Even on foot, that’s not a short amount of time.
 Quoting: Arkansassy

Not when you take into account tunnels, bridges and freeway interchanges on top of panicked people all trying to shove their way to the front of the line.

The recent flooding in China serves as a reminder as how much of a death trap high-density tunnels are. That was horrific to hear miles of cars and everyone drowning. I don't think we ever got an offical number being it's China and they hide everything.
 Quoting: YouAreDreaming

I don't think people truly understand exactly how many people will be on the same roadways, all at the same time and with only a couple of hours to get out. It won't be like rush hour traffic with 3-4 different shifts going in different directions trying to get home for dinner. Add the threat of death to the mix and all common sense goes out the window. Road rage will be off the charts as self preservation runs rampant.

I'd have the truck all packed so if I got the 7 hour warning I'd be on the road in less than 2 minutes.

Sure I'd leave a few valuables near the front door just waiting for the emergency call...but that would only take me 1 minute to throw in the truck!

No sense in getting stuck in traffic while death is approaching!

Worse case is seven hours. That is how long the tsunami will take to land. People have seven hours to get inland. Make sure you have maps because If I were the deep state I would shut down cell phones and satellites. They are special like that

I'm in Nova Scotia. 100 foot wave will break up very quickly. It will do damage and death, buts it's not a world ender. Water always takes the easy way out. It would damage the coast but actually do more flooding inland via the valleys and rivers. I'm in the SW so my perspective may differ from others.
