Anyone remember the Yellowstone threads of yore and us getting excited in the spikes of activity only to learn the seismographs we’re picking up traffic noise?

Ahhh….Those were the days.

I recall when one of the major volcanoes in Hawaii about 3 years was ramping up and nothing happened after a lot of lava flows had engulfed various communities full of homes and businesses. That story sort of petered out, so I don't know if LaPalma will follow a similar pattern.

When Mt St Helens exploded in 1980, a huge side of its flank came crashing down. If that volcano had been surrounded by water, it would have caused a huge wave.

The fact is that a whole bunch of "reassuring stories" aren't being published along the lines of it being so unlikely, don't worry, etc.

This *absence* of response to reassure is odd. It's not typical.

Best thing RIGHT NOW for some of those folks in the know is to LEAVE while they have the chance to do so. They will not be able to go anywhere when there is gridlock.

Better to get away from there for a few days even if it may be in just your car. Bring stuff to hold you over in case you will NOT be able to return anytime soon to your home.

You might want to bookmark this link if there is any
news of an immediate eruption (will there be a "RED ALERT"
from the Spanish Gov?)--don't know how they do things over
there for alerts.

This shows the active ocean buoys and an Atlantic tsuanmi
would definitely register on that...unless they (cough cough)
decide to take it DOWN FOR NATIONAL SECURITY. (That could
also happen.)

Worse case is seven hours. That is how long the tsunami will take to land. People have seven hours to get inland. Make sure you have maps because If I were the deep state I would shut down cell phones and satellites. They are special like that
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80365094

Seven hours is an estimate for PREPARED people which, sadly, most will not be. And the ones who didn't prepare will be clogging the streets, searching for loved ones, the family dog and toilet paper. It's 10+ hours just to get from the Florida Keys to the Georgia state line on a good day. Throw in panic and the masses of elderly in Florida and it will be seven hours of chaos.
 Quoting: ~Jazz~

Some will make it. Most are screwed. Remember just a couple weeks ago when two days wasn’t enough time and New Orleans threw up their hands? Seven hours is barely enough time to even get the word out that there’s a tsunami coming to 50 million people. If this thing goes worst case, 48 million of those people are gonna die.
 Quoting: Revbo™

I listened to a podcast about this yesterday where it was mentioned that FEMA has actually run the numbers on this scenario. They determined that actual worst case is 65 million people die. And THAT'S if it happens during the daytime. I don't even want to know the number if this were to happen at night while people are sleeping.
 Quoting: **Watcher**

Imagine if it does hit during the day when people are at work. Millions trying to get home to collect loved ones first and then trying to evac. And that doesn't take into account the time it takes to get the word out to everyone first. Those 7 hours just went down to 5.

Another example is Iceland just earlier this year. For several weeks there was a massive quake swarm until finally a weak point was found and the magma broke through.

That one wasn't an explosive eruption, but every volcanic area is different.

I’m surprised by the lack of news about this in US mainstream media.

"Martial law." All the roadways would be controlled.

Wow...sure does! And the name on the Bill, "Operation Starfall", makes me wonder if there might be more to this doom scenario than we know. Perhaps the volcano is being triggered to take the fall for a tsunami so we aren't looking up for the real culprit.

Just in Florida alone, think of all of the nursing homes, retirement centers, hospitals, rehabs, senior housing etc. that will be trying to get their people out. Throw in the zoos and animal shelters and the logistics of accomplishing it all in that short length of time is incomprehensible. And that's if every single one already has the provisions in place and ready.

We might as well stop trying to figure it out. There is no way Miami or New York can evacuate their entire populations in time. The only people who will escape are people who are following this now and will happen to be paying attention when the eruption happens. And people with helicopters.

Don't know if anyone is interested in the time difference
between the U.S.A. and the Canary Islands, but from what
I gather from the link below...it is currently 3:34 A.M.
there...or 7 hours (ahead of us) difference. You can figure
out what the time difference is in your times zone from
this link--the 3:34 A.M. is what it is using Mountain Time.

[link to www.worldtimebuddy.com (secure)]

Not sure if it makes a difference, but the in-coming
CMEs and coronal hole winds come in tomorrow night so
that would be around 2:00 A.M. or so Canary Island time
to be watching for the space weather effects on the mountain.

From my understanding we are in for a couple of days worth
of disturbance from solar activity from a couple days ago
these next days ahead. I'm wondering if the Canary Islands
being SUN FACING when the energies arrive makes a difference
or not. Seems like that might put it at more risk.

We'll see.
