Dutch says no tsunami threat from this eruption. Does he say that to stay on YouTube or he really truly believes it?
 Quoting: krayzie

He is compromised or misguided, if that’s true.

NO ONE can truly tell us with any certainty that we’re not going to experience a serious problem from this crisis.

Very irresponsible thing to say.

And I make these statements as a long time fan/follower of Dutch.

How do you know this Pyroclastic flow is occurring?
 Quoting: El Perfilador

When pyroclastic material(Magma) is exploded out of a vent that is what it's called. They include magma but also solid pieces of lava. We are seeing rapid and repeated explosions as we speak or in other words, pyroclastic flows....
 Quoting: FeedYourHead

Thank you for the explanation, but how do YOU, know that is this occurring?
 Quoting: El Perfilador

Use Tangy's clip for reference. The scale is massive btw, and I can visibly see it running down the cone.

Not a video-tard, but I wouldn't be surprised if that stuff is moving at thirty or forty miles an hour. With bursts that are much faster.

If Adam Savage was here, I think he could give an accurate number.

FAST.

Is all I can say.

Agreed, that lava was moving!!!

If this intensity continues from that middle vent and the one above it which is mostly out of view because of the action from the one below, it seems almost inevitable more crumbling and tumbling will occur.

Whether enough landslide to generate a mega-tsunami or even a plain ole tsunami is another matter.

We could be monitoring this one for the long haul, as she doesn't look like she's letting up anytime soon to me.

Middle vent looks absolutely spectacular now, like two halves of a coconut shell.

He spent the majority of the video talking about the North American Pacific coast EQ zones and how the energy comes across the Pacific to Alaska, then goes south down into california.
He showed a map of the US EQs and how it relates to the craton, in the center of the country (very stable area).
He talks about standing waves and then gets to La Palma at approximatelythe 1 hour 10 minute mark.
Then he talks about having an emergency kit ready.

They really want their population reduction. And we can’t overlook how convenient it would be to permanently reduce the number of Conservative Voters presently living in Coastal Predominantly Conservative States that would be most affected.

That is for sure... I was in Hawaii during an eruption and walked directly up to lava flows and that's incredible and dangerous...

Otoh as long as it's venting upwards and outwords with lots of vents appearing I don't see the island shattering in any way..... If it was blocked it would be more at risk for a cataclysm but who knows

Exactly. At this point in the eruption, the landslide does seem unlikely. However, that may change. We must see some massive inflation of Cumbre Vieja, coupled with larger EQs and more vents/fissures opening that are roughly the same strength as the current. Last I read, deflation was occurring. Of course, that may change.

Quite a show tonight.

The GOOD news, I think, is that the inflation numbers are holding steady ie: NOT increasing.

For now the eruption is emptying out the magma as fast as it is coming up from below after initially inflating that part of the island very quickly by about 24-28 cm.

Of course if MORE magma starts coming up than is being emptied the inflation will resume, much like happened with Mt. St. Helens.

Like many I am watching the EQ depth quite closely ... and if it starts getting up to the 5km or LESS range THAT is when I think the risk of a partial slide of the island becomes more real. It is NOT there YET.

As I have previously noted I also think that that entire ridge area needs to be HEATED UP so as to add the dynamic of super heated water pressurizing the rocks and pushing them away from each other (ie: helping to break the bonds holding that part of the island to the rest). In my layman analysis that is part of the reason for the Mt. St. Helen's slide, the bond holding that side of the mountain to the rest of the mountain had been considerably weakened by super heated water inside the mountain pushing the entire mountain OUT so it blew out sideways versus UP.

In regards to HEAING UP the critical rock area ... that TAKES TIME!!

There are at least hundreds of cubic kilometers of rock that has to be brought up to temperature (or more), so to speak, which is why I am still holding to my personal analysis that the island will NOT even start to be prepped for a slide until we reach November. The rock bonds holding it together will NOT be weakened enough until then (remember it took Mt. St. Helens TWO months to reach that dynamic of a weakened mountain, Tambora took 6 to 12 weeks, ditto with Krakatoa - only Mt. Pinatubo went into a full scale eruption very quickly, but it blew UP not OUT).

Thanks to everyone for all their work on this thread!! Like everyone else here I am mesmerized by what is happening .
