Just as new as you are here most likely, but a lurker for a few years now. A lost forum soul looking for a new home. Like you, don't much know how this place works and there's no handbook to learn. It's appears it has it's own woo woo. Some have thousands of greens and must have taken years to accumulate.

Exactly. At this point in the eruption, the landslide does seem unlikely. However, that may change. We must see some massive inflation of Cumbre Vieja, coupled with larger EQs and more vents/fissures opening that are roughly the same strength as the current. Last I read, deflation was occurring. Of course, that may change.
Pray for the best-Prepare for the worst.

IF it stays like this, the worst has a less than 1% chance of happening-in my opinion. Less than 1% chance.

I hate to disillusion you, but what you probably have is called tachycardia. Stop smoking and go see your doctor. There is medicine for this. If you ignore this problem, one beautiful morning you might get a heart attack.

I know, I used to smoke. I am over 60 now and I don't smoke anymore. I also take my pills every morning like a good boy.

There are other things this could be.

A friend of mine has it. She had surgery - ablation is what it is called....basically cauterizing certain veins going to the heart so they won't "short-circuit" anymore.

Thing is, she STILL gets it! Even after the surgery. Even with her meds.

Just sitting, and all of a sudden, BAM! Heart beats a mile a minute....

If you looked a little longer. You would see he has a long established youtube channel, two in fact, and has already amassed millions of view on many of his videos.

He finds himself in that context as an outdoors man bushcraft blogger in the right place at the right time. An outdoor guy, who is nimble and not averse to hiking around the place and site seeing, adaptable to conditions, skilled and confident ot a level in the outdoors etc. etc.

He may be as most people probably are, ignorant of the obsidian materials long term effects on the lungs. If not then he knows what he is doing and has made a calculated risk. So be it.

However based on users assessments and his more recent statements on camera. He has admitted he has been somewhat ignorant of volcanoes as a topic.

I detect not long after he professed a noble intent but probably foolish idea of solidarity in staying, that both the information as to the long term harm of ash came to him being around the same time the airport closed a second time - as the gravity of damage he may have already incurred clicked, on top of that the gruelling tremors/noise and constant ash, begins to play on more than patience. So his spirits may be dampened and now is becoming more conflicted.

It may or may not have caused that more accurate information to get to him via the comments. Possible but only the people who followed through before and since that thread would know.

He may also be seeing people who are doing less well that he is, he may also be faithfully following the island leadership advice to keep up a good face and is now beginning to wonder as to the wisdom of such advice, as he himself begins to earn and learn a greater understanding of the true risk profile he and possibly his family are currently in.

For me and some others it has been a GTFO signal for since before the eruptions, as the early waring DREAMS have made this super clear, but evacuating such an island is unprecedented and so what can you do, it is the extreme of the extreme that is beyond even logistical capbialiyt for mosts thinking, but then doesn't look so extreme with the ultimate extreme occurs and wins the game leaving no survivor in close proximity and possible very far away too.
