My Belgian Malinois is acting a little more antsy than usual.

Anyone that has any experience with Mals knows they are a special breed and FULL of energy.

Anyone else's animals acting out of character?

hf
 Quoting: OGEBY

My Malinois has thyroid issues and allergies, so he acts 'weird' anyway, especially for a Malinois.
Lately, he hasn't wanted to be outside any more than he has to be. It's not excessively cold or wet, he just doesn't want to be outside at all if he can help it. He's been barking to come back in shortly after being let out. We don't have a large contingent of coyotes or anything else predatorial that we are aware of (wolves, etc.), so I can't say why he's doing that.

I should add that the cats, rabbit and parrots are all acting normal.

Could it be all that solar activity we're hearing about?

I wanna Add something, how many of You have Question this, Do the models of the tsunami take into account the Added delta formed from the magma, load, plus the load of the Whole Ridge?
 Quoting: Hi5SurfPR

Haven't gotten any feedback on that very variable since I wondered about the whole dynamics involved w/ new land formation and that insane 1000+ ft drop in sea floor.

Few others here have wondered upon that splinter in the brian.

Am not a hard sciences person, but am wondering about the stability of a lava pennisula and how that factors into the whole piling on scenario we see playing out currently.

Lava rock is lighter than other materials, right? So, depending on how much continues to flow and add to the new mass, I would think the stability is at the very least highly suspect.

Someone chime in here and educate us, please.
 Quoting: Deplorable Zenobia

If lava cools really quickly the gas bubbles in it grow bigger like pumice stone, lots of times it happens during underwater eruptions, if it flows out like this lava it forms a basalt lava which is very, very dense and heavy. More weight certainly can’t help matters.
 Quoting: The guitar playing gardener

We also have all that ash, incredible amounts, everywhere.

Firemen and others are trying to clean roofs of houses/businesses that have been evacuated. Sounds like an impossible job to keep up on. But ash will collapse a roof easily.

What else can it collapse. ugh.

And add that Yellowstone does not have a chunk of land ready to be shoved off into the ocean.

Only Mal owners would understand.

My boy has been a little more antsy than normal.

hf
 Quoting: OGEBY

If I ever get another dog it will be a Mal, for sure. That might be the only big working class dog I've never had in this lifetime.

Miss my 2 Rotties. They both were passed out snoring whole night that hurricane Fran came over us in central NC as a cat 1 still. Got up the next morning w/ no power, phone and I stopped counting downed trees on our farm after I got to 50. No power for 3 wks that Sept.

That said, yeah people. TylerK posted comment about his peek into what sharks are up to several pgs back. Animals always way ahead of us stupid humans when it comes to SHTF via Mother Nature.
 Quoting: Deplorable Zenobia

Re your Rotts sleeping through hurricane Fran, we had the same experience in Andrew in S. FL. Had wolf-dogs then, and we were worried they would be freaking out, since we had brought them in the house and rigged up a "caged" area in a spare bedroom. Hubs brought in fencing sections and tied it all together so they didn't run through the house (I was afraid if the roof flew off and they were loose in the house, they'd get out of the house and we'd never get them back).

Turns out, at the worst of it, just as the lights went out and the wind howled as bad as ever, we checked on them (by flashlight) and they were all SOUND ASLEEP!!!!! Slept through the whole thing!

I think it's nature's way of taking care of the critters.

Day 21: North Flank Collapse of the La Palma Volcano

At approximately 7:15pm of Day 21 of the La Palma volcanic eruption, a sizeable part of the north flank of the volcano collapses, releasing a large amount of magma.
