We had this down syndrome kid that would wander the neighborhood. He was totally harmless but would wander into peoples yards and stuff.

If someone like that had gotten lost at night on a walk or something, I would not want to live with having lit his ass up through a wall.

Now if they smash the window or are trying to gain entry, that is a different story. Once they are trying to forcefully gain entry, light em up, but I think this had not escalated to an use of deadly force justification.

It's a hypothetical. You aren't protected by castle doctrine in this case. You learn this kind of stuff in the license to carry class. You can't just shoot people. You have to be under imminent life threatening conditions and even then there will be a trial. You can shoot people through the door or wall of your home.
