Why is the rapture so hated and makes so many angry? Almost like demonic forces want it suppressed. Why hatred?

See how these verses are ALL the same event. They compare what Paul said to what Jesus said.

1. Notice that Verses 16 & 17 are pretty much EXACTLY what Jesus says in the Gospel descriptions.


1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all nopes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Matthew 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Mark 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

2. Then notice how well Paul's verses 15 & 17 match....

It's just not biblical and not part of any tradition that predates Mr. Scofield, cool story but made up by a guy who had probably never come into contact with the apostolic lineage.

Read the desert fathers. That's some of the oldest church literature in the world. You will find no mention of the rapture in any of their writings anywhere. Read any Christian author before Scofield and you will find no mention of the rapture.

So, why are y'all so insistent that the rapture is biblical when it's quite clear that the idea originated with a guy from Michigan just over a hundred years ago? Why not do some research and see that Mr. Scofield most likely lied about having an honorary doctorate in theology? Sounds like snake oil, which by the way was being peddled in the US around the same time as Scofield was active.

Again, no hate here, just genuine curiosity, concern and informational hygiene. I always tell people when they are about to shoot their own foot so maybe they won't because that's how I would like to be treated.

It seems like focusing in what seems like an obsessive way on a concept that is alien to Christianity but believed emphatically to be a part of the secret of Christianity could be problematic.

People tend to get pretty territorial about their beliefs and when you go around inserting alien teachings into the longest lived religion on the planet you can expect some pushback.

This is the reason for all the ecumenical councils; to preserve the tradition and prevent data corruption. There is a certain unwelcome scent of gnosticism in the rapture idea, like we are trapped here and we need to escape.

Share your "testimonies" of what God and Jesus have done for you
