do people usually flee US late at night to go abroad like they are right now - flights

not normal at 0450 that occured - loud in combination

100 flights over uk all going east having left US very late in day

This. And it's not that we are 'fleeing' the U.S. late at night.. It's just practical. From where we take off flying into Italy, it's a 10 hour flight. Leaving at night just makes sense. We sleep during the flight, our pilot sleeps when we get there. The same on the return trip.

Sleep on the plane at night, wake up in Europe in the morning.

Any time I have flown to Europe it was a late flight. I think they assume you will sleep on the plane and wake up fresh to start the day in Europe. Never worked for me.
