Zork type stuff. Well there's an AI engine creating them for your nostalgia or maybe even a return to simple pleasures.

It seems the text based stuff didn't really go away. I suppose we are actually doing it now.

I used to play on local BBSs. Can't recall the name of the MUD I liked. Pit or something? Spent hours on it. I was a real nerd. :)
Infinity Complex was a fun one!

Yes it does, you're own lead models and story lines, a group of people at the table, MUDs replicated that but there was no negative feeling at the time. Who gatheres at a table now?

For anyone who's puzzled:

a MUD game is a multi-user dungeon type of thing.

I've played some text-based games, but single user.

Re: Anyone ever play text based MUDs back in the day?
Yep. My first was Legends of Terris on AOL. Then I learned about telnet, GMud, and ZMud clients. Got into some GodWars muds and DBZ muds. My absolute favorite was called ThievesWorld. Played for years.

Never quite got into Aardwolf or some of the other big name muds that escape me at the moment.

I miss my TW.

Zork, Zork 2, Zork 3. Infocom was the company. Used to create maps as I played. These games were awesome.

How about some other old school games like Bard's Tale and Ultima?

I used to play a game called "MUDS" back on my Amiga 500.

MEAN
UGLY
DIRTY
SPORT

It wasn't text based but it was like a football game with monsters.

It was actually one of my favorite games for the Amiga.

I never had the Commodore 64, I had an Oric Atmos.

There was a text-based adventure game called Zodiac that I enjoyed, but I never got through it.

Now that I was reminded on it, I guess I'll have to watch a playthrough on YouTube to find out WTF the 'final ingredient' was that the witch wanted!

Moongate and Asylum were my faves in the mid-90s. Haven't thought of them in years, now I miss them. Ah, why can't life be so simple again?
