My Brugmansia
A gorgeous trumpet flower. Mine is in full bloom, and the aroma emitted from these flowers is amazingly sweet. This is the plant that is used as an hallucinogenic and can be deadly if eaten. Found this at our local gardening store, and it was the only one they had this season. If you can find one of these, wow, it's an amazing tree..

Re: My Brugmansia
I am almost a pro growing it, I actually grow and sell some of it every Summer.

The small plants bloom in August, so it's quite a while of waiting for the flowers.

Got 3 colors peach, yellow and white.

Have fun, they are really fragrant in the evening.

I'm going to keep this one inside for as long as possible, kicked myself for killing that seedling.

I've heard that it's possible to grow them under lights... would it be safe? Don't want scopolamine poisoning.

Re: My Brugmansia
Ok, my trade secret is revealed to you.

Simple, cut the tree or if not used to the process yet,

-just cut one mature branch of your tree, size depends on the stem whether short or long.
- place the cutting in a vase/container with water to re-root, and transfer to a planter pot only when safe and put outside in warm weather, otherwise it stays indoors.

_You can plant it straight in the soil but have to cut it before frost and do the same process as above.

Now, where can I send you the bill for ten min. of Brugs consult/info? LOL!

That is how you make a lot of Brugs hf

Enjoy, let me know if successful :)

Re: My Brugmansia
ive got a Brug as well..its a pink flower.
yes they will root right in water, that is how i make new plants every year from mine.
i do it in the fall before it is going to freeze.
they die down to the ground each winter here in Central Florida.
it grows higher than the roof.

it IS legal to grow them here.
im not sure which parts are toxic but the sap doesnt bother me if i have to mess with it.no gloves.

i paid fifteen bucks for this plant probably a dozen years ago.
im SO happy with it.
it drops those flowers and makes a bit of a mess but i dont mind because it just adds to my compost pile.

Re: My Brugmansia
Beautiful.

We grow these outside here in California and they get quite large and spectacular.

My wife is growing one from a cutting right now. The little roots are forming and if we are lucky, we'll join you in the Brugmansia club as well!
