$11.35 for TWO chicken breasts at Kroger

I just got that exact brand at my local market tonight of quarters. 10 pound bag, $5.99

I paid .88/lb for regular chicken breasts and deboned them myself. Had 12 bones so I made chicken soup after boiling them down into a good stock.

I can not afford that organic stuff.

I have my own chickens for eggs but I killed 4 to eat once and gave them to a neighbor. It was just so disgusting to pluck and gut them. I couldn't eat them after that.

I assure you that CAFO meat is far more tainted with a broad variety of foreign substances than any pastured/organic meat is. But that’s not what this thread is about. It’s simply about the hyper-inflationary cost of ALL food in 2021.

you have not seen shit yet. Gas will be almost 5 bucks a gallon in many states by Christmas as oil prices are going to skyrocket. That is a promise with the price of crude going to almost 100 bucks a barrel and those sates like pA, CA and NJ having high gas taxes.

I expect a Big Mac sandwich to be $7 bucks by December too with steak filets being close to 50 bucks on the menu for a 6 oz piece.

Of course you will get your free prime shipping but Amazon will raise the living shit of their prime by 20 bucks a year starting after Christmas.

The the real fun starts with banks raising interest rates by 1% or more each quarter and the housing market free for all drying up big time by next March.

I think the biggest sticker shock will be the price frozen and refrigerated shit like chicken meat and especially frozen fish products in the stores. People will buying the hell out of this product as many restaurants will be closing their doors as the menu prices are becoming out of sight for the avg Joe.

people are already trying to scrimp and save by ordering takeout and delivery to avoid paying big tips. This will only get much worse and inside dining I believe is now finished in the US for many small restaurants. Hell Mcdonald's cannot even build double drive thrus quick enough and all the coupons for local restaurants are disappearing as people change the way they eat now.

I banned Kroger in February 2020. For that price you could buy at Whole foods or any number of places. You don't have to buy from those demons. You also don't have to hear the three layers of noise and the constant beeping. It's been life changing to never shop there. I have to give credit to target for not playing any store music. They save millions year in fees and it's a much more peaceful and calm.

Been that way for years by me. I would love to keep finding 5 a pound here.

It also depends on where you buy anything like food if you go to a really nice neighborhood you going to pay more for food takeout or drive-thru or supermarket go to a really bad neighborhood and the whole lot cheaper but you might get robbed when you leave in the store or loading your car or have a gun in your face at the drive-thru

I just read a good article there a four meat packing companies that controls the entire USA they are union companies and they are price gouging beef prices! At the farmer level beef prices have never been lower

The tubed ground beef is definitely cheaper. I think the quality isn't quite as good as the store packed stuff, but it's edible.

It was like that here at Walmart the other day and the other chain groceries aren't any better.

It was $7/lb just for "stew meat" scraps.

I am very well aware of those lower priced options.

There’s a world of difference between GMO-fed CAFO chicken and organically raised chicken. I have good reason to buy non-GMO/organic.

The 3-pack I linked to IS organic. You need to shop smarter and not buy the most expensive item on the shelf.

Neither of those links shows organically raised. But if you find organic chicken for those prices, I’ll drive there and stock up my freezers.

Even the store packed ground beef is just the scraps with a bunch of fat ground into it. It's all kinda gross if you think about it.

Nah. It's just factory produced ground beef.

The pink slime is all the connective tissues, organs, and meat that was stuck to the bone ground up, emulsified and squirted into forms.
