They do not want the money.

It will make many of them poorer for taking it. And since the government has allowed most nurses to work say, 16 hours a week as part time workers, and to call them for another 16 hours, this time paid in overtime, you can understand that these people are not interested in taking the money, and now having to work 40 hours a week at normal rate.
They will find themselves with less money.

The government let this happen for decades, and now they are trapped in a corner of their own making.

No wonder they tried to pass a law at the beginning of the pandemic that would make them unacountable for any decisions taken during the crisis, with a touch of "we can seize property and bank account for the glory of the state" added on the side.

So, this thursday, the government is supposed to announce if an accord has been reach to allow under certain circumstances the health care workers to keep on working despite being unvaccinated. That's what I've heard from my corner.
