Anyone here work at Costco? Need Intel confirmed.
Anybody who works at Costco I’d really like to know if you’ve heard that they are going to start limiting FOOD items. They are already limiting paper products but they’re going to start limiting food purchases is what I’ve heard.

Anybody know if this is true?

Sam's already has limits on many foods, i.e. you can only get 3 cases of their bottled water at a time.

Thread: Workers Who Maintain Supply Chains Warn of Worldwide ‘System Collapse

Meanwhile, retailer Costco said it’s chartering its own container ships between Asia and North America amid supply chain issues worldwide, Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti said in a recent conference call.

Costco, he said, is dealing with “port delays, container shortages, COVID disruptions, shortages on various components, raw materials and ingredients, labor cost pressures” along with “trucks and driver shortages,” Fox News reported.

Yeah, thanks, knew about the limits on paper products. These would be NEW limits on all kinds of food that have never been rationed before. Supposed to start in October.

Pretty sure it's true.

I was at Costco yesterday and a couple next to me opened
a frozen food door, then one of them said, "Oh, there's
a limit on this" after reading the label.

I didn't notice what it was.

I keep a shopping list online @waley world. a lot of limits
from a while back like several months ago on canned meats like beef, pulled pork, ham limit 2 only, new one last week sugar in the raw 4 pound limit 1.

It never says anything until you add it to your cart and up the qty the limit will pop up!

It is indeed true....

My daughter's boyfriend is a mid-level inventory manager. I usually have him pick up something for us when supplies get low. (They allow employees products first when the trucks come in.)

Maybe this is how the "Welcome to Costco, I love you" thing starts. That's what they'll say to placate customers who are angry about the limits.

I was at Costco last night in a NYC suburb and the stock is THIN. And there's little to no replacement on the shelves above. Basically what's at floor level is all they have. Only snack stuff like chips seemed to have replacements stocked.

Walmart has no limits in the store (at least mine, as of last night). We are a small store, in a small county ... with easily half our customers coming from surrounding counties/larger towns/small cities (if they have to ask where the bathroom is ...).

Our paper goods wall has been well stocked for several months now. But I still periodically pick some up whether I need it or not. My husband saw why I prep last year (Feb/March) when our shelves in grocery were literally empty.

I'm off to work here shortly and will be doing another food run after work (mostly pet-centered this time).

Work for Costco since 09, haven’t heard that, but I could seen it, but if they did it would be for them about equity among their members’ ability to get a product based on the company’s ability to get it, and a lot goes into that, I couldn’t imagine them doing that to more than a small handful of products.

Well, I talked with him tonight about proposed limits and, interestingly enough he told me that the limits were going to be placed on the "less profitable" items. Like specialty items.

He told me his store just lifted limits on things like toilet paper, paper towels and water because of their profit margin.

He went on to say, that the stores in the Northern Bay Area are selling out of these items, which drives demand. The trucks bring in what they can, some people suffer but it makes them want to buy more when they can.

Crazy shit!

I asked him about supply and his response was "There's always a truck coming every night".

So, in a nutshell. He basically told me that the limits are profit driven. Not necessarily supply driven.

I deliver food to Aldi stores. There is no food shortages yet for us. It is a mad house nearly every night with the amount of trucks bringing in food daily.
Produce is fine. Meat is fine. Eggs are fine. General merchandise is fine. The only low supply I have seen would be bagged cat and dog food. Which (in my personal experience) is probably good as most generic cat food can cause crystals in cats due to high amounts of ash.
Also for some weird reason pumpkins are going out to stores. There's no way those will last until the end of the month.

family member works at frito lay/ pepsi and this person has confirmed not only a lack of stock on-hand but a lack of raw materials to produce them. Currently their main issue is they can't produce enough gatorade, but they are also short drivers and making ppl drive longer hours than the law allows
