Why am I suddenly thinking about "War of the Worlds " ?

This has major potential for the mother of all psyops

Indeed. First thing in my mind reading title of thread. The tech is up there to simulate many, many things. An asteroid strike is surely among them.

Neutralizing
Anti
Science
Assholes

The article is stupid. The asteroid is no threat to hit Earth and the impact lacks the force required to knock the moon out of didymos orbit. It can spin it up all it likes, it's not leaving didymos. Even under ideal conditions the impact will be orders of magnitude too small to eject it from didymos orbit.

I didn't say I was anti-science. All I said is that NASA has lied so many times throughout their existence that how is someone to believe anything from them?
 Quoting: Luminous Epinoia

I didn't say you said you were, I was making fun of you and your stupid backronym. Hence I came up with one of my own. How many times have I proven NASA wasn't lying and those who said they were are the actual liars? I've lost count. And that's why I call you "anti-science."
 Quoting: Astromut

You can call it stupid, or call me stupid, I don't really care. But they obfuscate the truth and hide their black ops projects. Call it anti-science of whatever else but that's straight facts.
 Quoting: Luminous Epinoia

Exactly. They spent insane money on dead end projects and the shuttle was a joke. They built a huge vacuum chamber, and then a man sized one that was used once. The astronaut passed out in seconds, and said that right before he did, his saliva was fizzing. Water does that in a vacuum. It boils. Right now, astronauts train for 'spacewalks' in a pool, a pressurized environment that simulates zero gravity for the cameras only. Always the cameras. They put them where they want more than they need. Is space really a vacuum? Most gases in our atmosphere turn to liquid at the temperature in our lower space orbit so..... Could space be liquid?

Edit to add: Hope I can trust readings from instruments 'out there' more than I trust what those cameras have always shown me.

This isn't exactly breaking news. Just more GLP fear porn to keep you all in a low vibrational state.

"In August 2018, NASA approved the project to start the final design and assembly phase. The launch is planned for on 24 November 2021, and the collision is planned for on 2 October 2022."

So not only is this not news, the whole 'November doom' is just click bait, seeing that the impact of this TEST mission is scheduled for October 2022 and the asteroid itself won't come near earth until 2123.

I can hear it now, November 2022 Nasa, " Whoops we messed up, umm, December ( some date) 2022 everyone please duck and cover under your desks, (old saying for nukes) It will save you..
Sorry everyone"

I wonder what if Didymos strikes back?

Will we be able to see it on a telescope, thanks.

It will be televised. Holy crap balls!

NASA will launch a mission this November to strike an asteroid that may pose a threat to Earth. NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission will be launched in order to prevent a hazardous asteroid from striking Earth. The mission is set to launch at 10:20pm PST, November 23 (10:50am IST on the following day). DART will be launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, US. The launch will be covered live and will be aired on NASA TV, the NASA app and its website. The space agency has also called for media coverage of the event.
