They are fishing for information, specifically names and addresses, phone numbers. And if they think you are gullible enough, your bank accounts Quoting: WW3NuclearApocalypse This makes sense but I wonder because as stated in another response a couple of our (adult) kids work for a company that does polling, almost exclusively the political kind, and asking where I get my advice sounds like some of the sorts of questions they ask depending on the client. I had one of them check and it wasn't anyone in their company but there are numerous others. Those companies will always announce immediately who they are, what company they are working for |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79391326 Switzerland 11/02/2021 12:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So I just got a weird phone call. It was a woman calling from a local phone number (spoofed?) asking me who I go to for advice. I asked her what in the heck she was talking about and she said "You know, who do you go to or call when you need advice on making decisions?" Quoting: Plant Goddess My answer was simple. I said "Since I don't know you I'd say that's none of your damned business, so take my number off of your call list and never call me again!" I did not feel the need to be polite because this is the third call I've received like this in a few weeks. The other calls were from different numbers- which I immediately blocked after hanging up. The call begins with being told "This is not a telemarketing or sales call." It is a real human, not a robocall each time. The call never gets far enough to find out who the call is from, mainly because I'm hot tempered and it pisses me off when people I don't know ask me intrusive questions. Has anyone else been getting calls like this? Just curious. yea, I love the local fake numbers that have 666 in the last four digits... |
