Say a ball is 1 foot in diameter. That gives us a circumference of 37.7 inches. To complete one rotation in 24 hours (like the Earth) it would only move 1.57 inches per HOUR. Like the hand of a clock, you would have to watch it very close to notice this "spinning".

Faith doesn't require pinpoint accuracy in data/facts, it gets more difficult to nail down facts considering there is so much poetry in the Bible and the OP is likely forgetting the inerrancy of scripture is about THEOLOGY, not science. It's ok the cosmological view of the bronze age was used to describe creation, it's what they knew, the only way the Creator could have done it differently is to give the ancient Hebrews a crash course on modern cosmology but that would have created a text that was contrary to what an ancient people could observe with their own eyes.

If you're in a car and you exit, and are somehow able to not crash, road rash, and die, and able to have zero resistance (as you would in space), you would continue traveling at the speed you were traveling inside the car. The car would look like it's not moving, EXCEPT, that you'll have a reference point (the background (trees, road, grass)) that will allow you to reference speed by how fast you are passing things.

When you launch into space, you are already rotating at the same speed as the Earth, and since there is no resistance in space, you continue traveling in that same trajectory, though there would be nothing for you to reference in the background of earth -- nothing that is close enough to be moving fast enough for your naked eye to notice.

To do what you're claiming is being done (with the basketball), you'd have to exit into space, fire rockets in the opposite direction so as to come to a 'stop'.

THEN you would be able to see the rotation of earth, but it's likely by this point, you would have already fallen back to earth.

The basketball thing is just a poor example of how simple-minded some people are.
