WAR with China: . NEW content added Oct 23 - "Are we closer than we think?"
Well worth watching since we are potentially on the cusp of a potential War with China (possibly starting as early as in the next 75 days)

WAR with China from an Australian perspective and HOW CLOSE is it to occurring?
60 Minutes Australia
TV program
Sept 21, 2021 program (40 minutes long)

Originally I thought China would NOT be moving on Taiwan until AFTER the Winter Olympics (ala like Russia moving on Crimea immediately after the Sochi games in 2014), but with the Winter Olympics looking increasingly like a Bust it also looks to me like China has potentially moved up it's time line to BEFORE the scheduled games.

A big question remains on the timing wrt it's Party Congress which will conclude on Oct 29 and the announced, but as of yet publicly unscheduled, CCP Central Committee Meeting that is to take place in November.

Those of you who do not follow China may be unaware that the CCP has limited the Premier to 10 years in office ever since Mao, and Xi became Premier in 2012 so "IF" the protocol of the last 50 years is followed Xi will no longer be Premier AFTER the Party Conference in the fall of 2022.

Xi has stated several times that he will NOT leave the Taiwan question to the future. That he intends to "resolve" the issue before he leaves office.

UNLESS Xi is intending to have the CCP "CHANGE" it's now 50 year protocol as to how long a Premier can serve that means he MUST MOVE on Taiwan sometime before the end of November of 2022 so that the issue is "resolved" before he leaves office. Of course Xi has made some rumblings that he may want to stick around, and if that is the case then he may choose to "defer to the future" the resolution of the Taiwan issue.

"IF" he is going to follow protocol, willingly or unwillingly, that means he HAS to move on Taiwan sometime during the next 12 months, starting from NOW!

Over the next couple of days I will add some other links to this thread so that those who care to follow the WAR with China dynamic as it is developing this month and next can educate themselves and stay somewhat up to date.

PLEASE DO NOT CLUTTER THIS THREAD with posts that are irrelevant to the issue. This is too serious of an issue for some of the typical Religious Ramblings, Trump Stolen Election Ramblings, and totally unrelated Ramblings that tend to clutter up most GLP threads about serious issues.

PLEASE keep this thread focused on what may be the beginning Acts of a MAJOR War for the US.

edited to add:

25 posts down is a Quote by THE TOP Chinese Military Person saying War between the US and China is inevitable. In the article is this comment by Maj. Gen. Richard Coffman, director of the US Army's Next Generation Combat Vehicle Cross Functional Team:

"I think that means that you [China] are willing to STRIKE FIRST because, if it's inevitable, why would you wait for your adversary to strike first?"

U.S. cybersecurity official resigns because 'we have no competing fighting chance against China'

"A former top information technology official at the Department of Defense says he quit because the U.S. has all but lost the upcoming cyberwar with China.

“We have no competing fighting chance against China in 15 to 20 years. Right now, it’s already a done deal; it is already over in my opinion,” Nicolas Chaillan told the Financial Times...

... Chaillan resigned last month, saying the Pentagon put "laggards” in charge of cyberprojects for which they had no expertise."

GLOBAL THREAT China warns it will ‘fight to the death’ against Taiwan’s allies after warning WW3 could be sparked at any time

"CHINA has promised it will "fight to the death" against Taiwan’s allies after warning global war could be triggered "at any time"....

...in an editorial in the state-run Global Times, the Communist regime spelled out its readiness to fight the United States and other Western democracies that support the island's independence.

It reads: "Their fate is bound to be a catastrophe when they attempt to separate Taiwan from China.

"There is no force in the world whose will to ‘defend Taiwan’ is stronger than China's will to fight against secession and achieve reunification." ...

... As tensions mount, Joe Biden said he spoke to Chinese President Xi Jinping and the pair affirmed that they would "abide by the Taiwan agreement".

This was VERY INTERESTING TIMING!! Mid September was when they conveyed the message ... the Summit scheduled for early October has now been held BUT WHY did Xi NOT GO?

ummm .....

One possiblity is that he MIGHT BE OVERTHROWN while out of China?

A second possibility is that he is getting ready for WAR?

A third possibility is somebody in the crowd in Europe might have held up a picture of Winnie the Pooh!!?

What Is Happening in the Indian Ocean?

"... At the heart of the geopolitical struggle in the Indian Ocean is the ability to sustain a military presence near the key choke points connecting its trade routes. Such a presence gives countries the power to protect and disrupt these valuable maritime channels—known as Sea Lines of Communications (SLOC) protection and SLOC interdiction in naval terms—during times of peace and war...

... Of the world’s seven key choke points for oil transportation, three are in the Indian Ocean....

... The first choke point is the Malacca strait between Malaysia, Singapore and the Indonesian island of Sumatra, which connects Southeast Asia and the western Pacific to the Indian Ocean.

... The second is the Strait of Hormuz, which is the only sea passage connecting the Persian Gulf to the wider Indian Ocean.

... The third is the Bab-el-Mandeb strait, which flows between Eritrea and Djibouti in the Horn of Africa and Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, connecting the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean.

... Finally, there is also the Mozambique Channel between Madagascar and Mozambique, which is a key trading route for goods transiting the Cape of Good Hope to the Middle East and Asia.

If a navy has access to and influence over these choke points, it can oversee all entry and exit points into the region. Moreover, presence near key choke points helps a nation’s antisubmarine warfare and surveillance missions, which create maritime domain awareness. Surveillance and reconnaissance missions around choke points are particularly important for awareness of an adversary’s submarine movements, because detecting subsurface vessels in the wider open sea is much more difficult and expensive. A nation that boasts a strong security profile in the Indian Ocean will be an instrumental partner for the many littoral countries along its coastline, spanning Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia...

...Combined with Beijing’s larger maritime ambitions, China’s presence in the region has become a source of shared anxiety for France, India, the United States, and others...

Chinese Testing Experimental Armed Drone Ships at Secret Naval Base

"...The JARI, possibly referencing the Jiangsu Automation Research Institute, is an noteworthy USV in its own right. The PLAN first revealed it as a model in 2018, launched a prototype in August 2019 and conducted sea trials in January 2020. The small 50 foot-long craft has been described as a mini-destroyer because of its ambitious weapons and sensor fit. With a remote weapons station (RWS), it is intended to be armed with a small vertical launch system (VLS) for surface to air missiles and two lightweight torpedo tubes. Sensors include phased-array radars, electro-optical devices and sonar.

The new unreported USV has a similar overall form to JARI. It has a similar superstructure and appears to have the same communications radome over the transom. It also has what appears to be openings for torpedo tubes on each side, like the JARI. But the new USV is much larger than the JARI. It is about 70 feet long compared to 50 feet. The superstructure is generally more substantial. The lower hull may have been changed to a simple monohull configuration compared to the JARI’s semi-catamaran. ...

... The other unreported USV is a large catamaran, also with a length of approximately 70 feet. This is a popular configuration for USVs and few deatils about the USV are apparent beyond the hullfrom. Its proximity to the ‘JARI’ based model suggests comparative testing, so it may be generally similar.

The original JARI can be seen as unrealistically over-armed. The new larger version may have a simplified mission with a narrower set of weapons. ...

... This points to the fast pace of Chinese research and development.

The emergence of the new facility shows the Chinese are putting a previously unknown emphasis on armed uncrewed systems as a key developmental effort. ...

China has already built the world’s biggest fleet, with more hulls splashing off its slipways every year.
============================================

Float, Move, and Fight
How the U.S. Navy lost the shipbuilding race.

"... the Navy has instead fallen significantly behind, accepting into service ships that struggle to even “float, move, and fight”—the basic functions of the most rudimentary warship. Ship classes have been cut, and many vessels have been retired early, while others wait years for repairs. These include supposedly cutting-edge vessels that were meant to be the backbone of the current and near-future fleet.

The failures are legion and the details excruciating ...

... Or consider the massive, futuristic Zumwalt-class stealth destroyer. Only three of an originally planned 32 ships are going to be built. Some estimates have the all-in costs for the Zumwalt at $7 billion per ship—more expensive than the Nimitz-class aircraft carriers they might be expected to escort. The ship’s main armament, a new technology called a railgun, doesn’t work and would not have been of much use in a maritime conflict with China anyway.

...the many failures constitute a lost generation of shipbuilding, leaving the Navy unready at a time when China has already built the world’s biggest fleet, with more hulls splashing off its slipways every year.

... “The Navy embraced technology for technology’s sake,” said Rep. Elaine Luria

... a technology fails aboard a warship that has been handed over to the Navy, the interdependence of systems means the entire ship is rendered nonoperational.

... the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) has concluded that China has the largest navy in the world—by the end of 2020, it had an estimated 360 battle force ships, compared with 297 for the United States. ONI projects that China will have 400 battle force ships by 2025 and 425 by 2030. More worrisome for U.S. planners: Chinese warships are increasingly capable, reducing the quality gap that is the traditional wellspring of U.S. confidence as it contemplates emerging adversaries.

...The result is a Navy that continues to decommission ships faster than it builds them. It scraps multibillion-dollar hulls for a lack of repair capacity and falls further behind not just China but relative minnows like Italy and Finland, which have successfully introduced new, robust ship types that the United States has spent decades vainly trying to build.

...there are only seven yards in the United States that can build major warships. That dearth of capacity has several effects. With newer classes constantly in the shop for repairs, some ships sit at pier FOR YEARS [waiting on repairs] before being seen to.

...As it is, it would take almost 20 years to work through the Navy’s current maintenance backlog.

Will The US Abandon Taiwan?

"... The (US-GB-French) flotilla was meant to deter Beijing from any further acts of aggression during a low point in relations between Beijing and Washington.

Beijing was likely unimpressed.

Deterrence only works on an opponent who is willing to abandon the objective you are trying to prevent that opponent from achieving. Frankly, Beijing wants Taiwan more than Washington wants to keep the island away from China.

The current situation in China is especially dangerous for Xi Jinping’s continued rule. As China’s economy goes through a massive reorganization that could take down Xi’s regime, the Chinese ruler is looking to distract his people through powerful displays of nationalism, such as reclaiming the “lost” Chinese province of Taiwan.

... No matter what President Biden says, it is unlikely that he will commit US forces to defend Taiwan. According to a 2021 survey conducted by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, only 41 percent of Americans support US military power being used to defend Taiwan. Therefore, it’s not politically expedient for Biden to risk another world war—at least according to the polls—anymore than it was for Biden to keep US forces in Afghanistan.

Beijing is quickly approaching the time when it is prepared to call Washington’s bluff over Taiwan....

To throw a little very very cold water on the US wrt it's Industrial Capabilities compared to China:

2020 Steel production:
US: . . . 72 million tons
China: 1000 million tons

2019 Aluminum production
China: 35,000,000 metric tons
US: . . . 1,111,000 metric tons

2020 Auto Production:
US: . 12.5 million cars/light trucks
China: 20.0 million cars/light trucks

IF China would get Taiwan's chip making capability it would have about 70% of the world's chipmaking capability (Taiwan currently has 60%).
The US would have about 7% of the world's chip making capability

For the highest tech chips after taking over Taiwan China would have 70% of the world's capacity
The US would have less than 1% of the world's capacity

Ship building?
The US only has 7 yards left that can build a bigger ship, and we build very few commercial ships, China has oodles of yards to build in:

Ships built 2019 in tonage (last year before Covid)
China: 23,074,209
US: . . . . 131,415
[link to unctadstat.unctad.org]

China out builds the US in shipbuilding by 175 to 1!!
That is NO WAY to win a long term Naval War!!

China was found this summer to be QUICKLY adding 250 NEW underground missile silos for it's ICBM's. This is in addition to it's existing ICBM silos, it's mobile ICBMs (which have been stored in caves or on roads continually moving). Clearly an attempt to have a Second, OR Third, Strike capability.

IMO those silos should be completed by the end of October, though whether China will have built enough NEW ICBM's, specifically the warheads to fit on top of the missiles, to fill them is another question ... as is the question of whether those NEW missile warheads will be MIRVed.
==========================================

China Is Building A Second Nuclear Missile Silo Field

"Satellite images reveal that China is building a second nuclear missile silo field. The discovery follows the report earlier this month that China appears to be constructing 120 missile silos near Yumen in Gansu province. The second missile silo field is located 380 kilometers (240 miles) northwest of the Yumen field near the prefecture-level city of Hami in Eastern Xinjiang.

The Hami missile silo field is in a much earlier stage of development than the Yumen site. Construction began at the start of March 2021 in the southeastern corner of the complex and continues at a rapid pace. Since then, dome shelters have been erected over at least 14 silos and soil cleared in preparation for construction of another 19 silos. The grid-like outline of the entire complex indicates that it may eventually include approximately 110 silos.

... The silos at Hami are positioned in an almost perfect grid pattern, roughly three kilometers apart, with adjacent support facilities. Construction and organization of the Hami silos are very similar to the 120 silos at the Yumen site, and are also very similar to the approximately one-dozen silos constructed at the Jilantai training area in Inner Mongolia. These shelters are typically removed only after more sensitive construction underneath is completed. Just like the Yumen site, the Hami site spans an area of approximately 800 square kilometers."

... the People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force (PLARF) appears to have approximately 250 silos under construction – more than ten times the number of ICBM silos in operation today.

China must be prepared to strike first using nukes, top [Chinese] diplomat says

"China must be prepared to use nuclear weapons and will abandon its ‘no-first-use’ coverage to push again in opposition to new alliances forming within the Pacific, a senior diplomat has stated.

Sha Zukang, the nation’s former ambassador to the UN
, advised a summit of Chinese nuclear coverage specialists that it’s time to ‘re- look at and fine-tune’ a long-standing dedication to solely use nukes in retaliation because the US ‘builds new navy alliances and because it will increase its navy presence in our neighbourhood.’

Zukang’s feedback – which come as China builds a whole bunch of recent nuclear missile silos – are important as a result of Beijing typically floats modifications of coverage by senior diplomats. The physique he was talking to – the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association – is formally unbiased, however has sturdy ties to the Communist get together...."

...Beijing is assumed to possess round 320 nuclear warheads that may be fitted to these missiles at current [BEFORE the 250 new missile silos are/were completed], however can be thought to be within the midst of a serious growth of that arsenal.

[my comment - those numbers do NOT include aircraft deployable nuclear weapons, cruise missile equipped nuclear weapons, NOT their submarine ICBM's]

China is the world's biggest shipbuilder, and its ability to rapidly produce new warships would be a 'huge advantage' in a long fight with the US, experts say

"*A new Department of Defense report on China's military power said that China "has the largest navy in the world" and is "the top ship-producing nation in the world by tonnage.""

"*Experts said that "their shipbuilding capacity is a huge advantage for them in a protracted conflict with the United States," which lacks the same ability to quickly build new ships."

"*With the ability to turn out ships faster than any other country, China could build up its force or rapidly replace its naval losses in a conflict."

"China has an edge over the US in shipbuilding, and it could give the country an advantage in a protracted conflict in which both sides see heavy losses at sea, experts told Insider.

"China has already achieved parity with — or even exceeded — the United States in several military modernization areas," the Pentagon reported recently, identifying shipbuilding as one area where China has an advantage.

"The [People's Republic of China] has the largest navy in the world, with an overall battle force of approximately 350 ships and submarines including over 130 major surface combatants," the Pentagon assessed in its latest China Military Power report.

The Pentagon also reported that "China is the top ship-producing nation in the world by tonnage," adding that the country is currently striving to increase "its shipbuilding capacity and capability for all naval classes."

...Among the surface combatants China is building are cruisers, destroyers, and corvettes, which the Department of Defense says "will significantly upgrade the PLAN's air defense, anti-ship, and antisubmarine capabilities."

China is also continuing to build support ships, amphibious warfare vessels, and aircraft carriers for expeditionary operations and power projection.

..."In an extended conflict, the United States will be on the losing end of a production race—reversing the advantage we had in World War II when we last fought a peer competitor," Berger wrote"

Err i think the Chinese Army would come to liberate Australians from their totalitarian government. Australians should be happy with that, they might be able to leave their homes without being harassed or shot by their own police force.
Life is a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves.

Space lasers and the new battlefield emerging under China’s anti-satellite tactics

"Space lasers are a real thing, even if they’re not generally made to blow up passing satellites.

Designed to damage or disable sensor equipment on orbiting satellites, ground-based lasers can help hide a nation’s activities.

...Sydney-based space analyst Chris Flaherty said that when it came to lasers, “dazzling”, or interfering with a satellite’s camera, and “blinding”, permanently damaging a satellite, “are the prime technologies that are deployable right now”.

... the laser facility in Xinjiang was thought to have been started as far back as 2009.

... If China or another power used lasers aggressively against orbiting satellites, it’s no longer about two superpowers facing off like during the Cold War space race, said Flaherty.

Instead, the question becomes: if one space-reliant system goes down, what else goes down with it?"

Top China General hints at likelihood of war with US as Beijing backs huge military boost

"CHINA'S second highest ranking military official has hinted at the likelihood of war with the US, as Beijing calls for higher military spending in preparation for a conflict with Washington.

General Xu Qiliang, China’s second in command of the armed forces after President Xi Jinping, said an increase in military spending is need to counter the ‘Thucydides Trap’. The term, popularised by US political scientist Graham T. Allison, refers to the inevitability of war when a new global power displaces an existing one.

... “[We] must make breakthroughs in combat methods and ability, and lay a sound foundation for military modernisation.”

... Maj. Gen. Richard Coffman, director of the US Army's Next Generation Combat Vehicle Cross Functional Team, saw the remarks as a clear admission war was “inevitable”.

He said: “The top uniformed soldier in China, chairman of China's Central Military Commission, stated that war with the United States is inevitable.

"That is the first time China has made that statement publicly.

“If you are the head uniformed general in the Chinese military and you say 'it's inevitable,' what does that mean?

"I think that means that you are willing to strike first because, if it's inevitable, why would you wait for your adversary to strike first?"

So ....

IF (rather WHEN) the US goes to War with China WHO is going to be fighting that War on behalf of the United States?

Are the younger Illegal Immigrants who are here BY THE MILLIONS going to go FIGHT a War on behalf of the United States?

Are the "Dreamers" who are here BY THE MILLIONS but have a citizenship in another country and an ability to go there going TO STAY TO FIGHT a War on behalf of the United States?

Are the younger Blacks, 50% of the males have an Arrest and Prison record thus CAN NOT generally SERVE by current law, going to fight the government SO THEY CAN go FIGHT and possibly DIE in a War on behalf of the United States?

Are all those with Felony Records (33% of black males, about 8% of all males), going to fight the government so they can go FIGHT a War on behalf of the United States?

Are all of those Ivy League graduates and other Academics going to volunteer to leave their cushy lives so they can go FIGHT and potentially DIE in a War on behalf of the United States?

Are WOMEN who want all the benefits of society going to go and actually engage in the sacrifice that men have to engage in and FIGHT a War on behalf of the United States?

I think most here can answer the questions above.

The end result is that THE SMALL segment of society that the "Woke" people continually put down and discriminate against, that the Democrats can't stop railing against, the White Males, are the only ones that have the REAL potential to be the Soldiers to fight in the War for the United States.

BUT WHY SHOULD THEY?

They have now been told time after time that THEY, White Males who have avoided prison /work at a real job /try to treat people well, are THE SHITS OF SOCIETY and ALL the others should reap the benefits of THEIR (the White Males) work and sacrifice but little to nothing of the rewards of society should go back to them .

It is going to be "interesting" WHEN the major War with China breaks out. imo 90% of those the Democrats are pushing to bring into the country will be fleeing the country by any means available once it looks like they might have to go to Fight AND DIE in order to protect the United States.

Interesting Times arriving ... and it won't be too long in the future
