The combined Chinese and Russian naval vessels that traveled the Straits separating Honshu from Hokkaido (Japan's main islands) reportedly went to the EAST side of Japan and subsequently traveled South along the Honshu coast.

It is on the EAST side of Japan, Honshu Island near the central area, where the US keeps it's fleet that is based in Japan (including an aircraft carrier). The combined Chinese and Russian navy units sailed right past the US Fleet's port during their transit.

No information as to whether those ships remain in the Pacific EAST of Japan or have now started to circle back west towards the South China Sea.
