Rare carnivorous plant in danger
[link to www.abc.net.au]
QUEENSLAND is home to a newly discovered flesh-eating plant so rare that its location will be kept secret to protect it from collectors.

The plant, found somewhere in the north of Cape York, is one of the most exciting botanical discoveries since that of the Wollemi Pine – a surviving tree from the time of the dinosaurs found in the Blue Mountains in 1994.

James Cook University ecologist Charles Clarke, who found the carnivorous plant, yesterday said the exact site was being kept secret to deter fortune hunters.

I have seen a rather large vine-growing pitcher plant at the greenhouse where I get my orchids. The price-tag on it is around $400.00 U.S.

I love orchids. Very sensual plants they are. I prefer the Paphiopedilums, I like them all.

My latest crop all died because of a snap freeze earlier this winter. It caught me by surprise and I didn't get them in. I lost about $160.00 worth, including my Rothschild.

My granddad used to grow peonies and pansies around his garden.

Sure; Indoors or a good greenhouse, no problems.

Only 40 degrees here tonight.
