Important Federal Updates Regarding Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccination October 21, 2021

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Pfizer have released new resources to assist with planning for a pediatric COVID-19 vaccine.

The Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccination Operational Planning Guide outlines key aspects of a COVID-19 vaccination program for children younger than 12 years old. This was designed to inform jurisdictional planning under the assumption of authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and CDC recommendations of at least one COVID-19 vaccine product for children of this age. Pfizer has also created a one-page guide, noting the difference between the current adult/adolescent formulation and the future pediatric formulation.
