I was into hard alcohol.

Could potentially go through an entire bottle in one night if agitated by work/wife/etc.

Was never angry/abusive or whatnot, but knew it wasnt right.

So i started by only buying a little half pint bottle.

Now i split it into 2 days, 1 nice pour.

I go days now without drinking.

Feel way better.

Once a year...on my birthday, I usually get shitfaced, and dont even think about it.

Moderation is key.

Better get at least a little dry, shit is about to hit the fan. You can't survive and be a drunk simulataneously.

nope. God is in control of my life. i have to suffer thru some days for a few days or weeks. thats fine

a drunk the slides back is in trouble. i have to work from here, tomorrow i will have 1 sip of the budweiser can so i dont get sick. then thats it

i will join st patties AA cause i think i have some tips for good folks. a lot of good folks struggle

i could imagine the allure of a good guy who works 40 hours then wants to let go on a friday night. but thats bad. he has to look forward to waking up on saturday fresh. thats the reward

Bottom line is you have to decide in your mind, you want to stop drinking excessively. Doesn't have to be completely, I dont believe in absolutes myself, I dont believe in alcoholism, but just make the decision to cut it down, and truly believe in it.

A buddy of mine had a real problem at one point, could go through 3 40 oz malt liquor bottles back to back...

At the time he labeled himself an "Alcoholic", and went to AA. He eventually realized its all BS, and just has 1 beer, one glass of wine, one drink. He knows where excessive drinking leads, and made the same decision I did...Its not worth it, and to go slow.

There is a physical addiction part to it, similar i suspect to tobacco, etc..so you have to work through that initially, but afterwards you realize its all mental.

When your truly ready, make the choice. Its that simple.

Could never maintain doing both...always got physically sick, threw up, etc.

Haven't done weed in 10? years now. I miss the happy feeling, but whatever, i cant with my job so no big deal.

So many weed heads now that its legal, its insane. And most are using it as a coping mechanism for stress, and problems.

Im happy with my simple life. No massive problems, no sleepless nights, just enjoying each day as it comes.

my stepmother called earlier this evening telling me my dad is in ICU after someone found him in a hotel room unresponsive. enlarged liver, kidney problems, arrhythmia that requires pacemaker, high fever and now checking for sepsis....

Havent heard rom him in 10 months after opening my home to him coming out of rehab and him choosing the bottle(again). He was a great dad growing up but alcohol has taken everything, 100K+ job, wife, adolescent son, pride.

There are two kinds of drugs, fastening drugs and slowing drugs.

Mana and Anti-Mana.

Coffee - Tea
Weed - Alcohol
LSD - Exstasy
Cocaine - Heroine
