Differences that kinda both do and don't exist

My employer asked me what the differences are, between starting work at 30, and starting work at 14.

I said that starting work at 30, I come in with more mental skill and I come in a lot less likely to be allow myself to be abused and taken advantage of.

I come in a lot tougher, with more of a past behind me.

I am quicker to learn, because my thinking skills are more developed.


Those are differences that exist, that give me the edge.


I do not come here with youthful optimism and guardian angels on my shoulders, that can be an advantage and a disadvantage, in different working environments and situations.

I come here knowing who I am, where I come from and who I belong with and where I belong being and what I belong doing.

That is a disadvantage for a new employee, it closes doors and collapses bridges quickly.

I'm already on a do not rehire list at McDonald's...
Because I'm not going take racial abuse directed at myself...
And I'm not staying where I'm not wanted.

Life's too short to try to satisfy the world.


Differences that does not exist..
Is that I'm financially stronger..
I'm no stronger of the wallet than a common 18 year old.

Another difference that doesn't exist, is that I have more practical working experience..

I have no more applied practical working skills than a 14 or 18 year old.



The difference between me just now driving, and a 16 year old starting to drive...
Is that I have more common sense, and a more developed brain...

And a lot less idiotic, rowdy, crazy friends to steer me wrong about things and I'm a lot less prone to them.


What I do not have... Is more driving experience.
