Taxing unrealized capital gains is exactly like:

Playing the lottery, not winning, but still have to pay taxes on the jackpot anyway.

In fact, they could literally try to do that under this new tax regime.

Basically, they are trying to scope out where the money is and use unrealized capital gains as a pretext to take some of it.

There scheme, from what I heard, only affects you if you make over a certain amount of millions per year.

Why does that bother you? Unless you are one of these uber-rich peoples.

Dont pay it,its inflation and when they sue for it,countersue for inflation adjusted losses.

Those people generally don't ever pay taxes, so.. You know.. who are you protecting anyway?
