I’m not so sure. I did Second Life for awhile when it first came out, and years later I hopped on the VR train with Oculus Go up through my current Oculus Quest 2. To say the least, there’s a big difference between a desktop app and VR. As soon as I put on my Go headset I knew it was the future. I was floored by it. For a couple hundred dollars you had something that took you literally anywhere, and you really felt like you were there. It was easy to “meet up” with friends and family from other states or countries to play games, watch movies, travel together or just hang out. It was immediately apparent that the application for this type of technology was limitless.

I’m not saying it’s better than actual human interaction. I’m not saying it’s a good thing for mankind. I’m certainly not happy that Mark Zuckerberg is leading the charge, and I hope he gets some competitors. But, I think it’s the future because I think it’s the natural next step for generations of younger people who were born and raised on technology. It’s just so real, and kinetic and truly captivating that I can’t imagine it won’t be adopted more and more as time goes on.
