I think of it as going back to where you made a mistake that led you not to what you really wanted, but into a disaster or series of disasters.
You have to analyze it and figure out how you went wrong.
Then, you see the wrongness of it so clearly that you couldn't even be tempted or forced to do it again.
It ultimately involves taking an entirely different path from where you made a wrong turn.
In essence, it doesn't involve becoming a different person, but remaining essentially the same person doing right.
Like backtracking from a dead end path in the woods, and trying a different path.
It's easy - no drama.
