Ron Paul Racing Lands a Car!
After exiting conversation’s with Doug Yates Racing, we have secured permission to announce our sponsor intentions. Not just any car but the legendary #28 making its historic return to the track since it was retired shortly after the passing of NASCAR great Davey Allison in 1993. Imagine the coverage this team is going to get for Ron Paul.

Doug Yates Racing, with 48 poles, 57 wins including two Daytona 500s and a Championship, is no stranger to winning. The #28 car also posted the 4th fastest time in Daytona’s preseason test earlier this month. Imagine the coverage this car will get for its history alone. Now imagine it covered with Ron Paul. This would be the first time a NASCAR racecar was sponsored by "We the People", the fans, the Ron Paul Revolution.

The Daytona 500 is a 200-lap, 500 mile (805 km) NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race held annually at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. It is one of four restrictor plate races on the Cup schedule. In 2008, the race will celebrate its 50th running.

The Daytona 500 is regarded by many as the most important and prestigious race on the NASCAR calendar, carrying by far the largest purse. Championship points awarded are equal to that of any other Sprint Cup race. It is also NASCAR's first race of the year; this phenomenon is virtually unique in sports, which tend to have championships or other major events at the end of the season rather than the start. Since 1995, U.S. television ratings for the Daytona 500 have been the highest for any auto race of the year, surpassing the traditional leader, the Indianapolis 500. The event serves as the final event of Speedweeks and is known as "The Great American Race" and the "Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing." It is held the third or second Sunday in February, and since 1971, has been loosely associated with Presidents Day weekend.

The winner of the Daytona 500 is presented with the Harley J. Earl Trophy in Victory Lane, and the winning car is displayed, in race-winning condition, for one year at Daytona 500 Experience, a museum and gallery adjacent to Daytona International Speedway

2008 Race: The 50th Running

The 2008 Daytona 500 will mark the 50th running of "The Great American Race", and is scheduled to be run on Sunday, February 17, 2008, celebrating the Golden Anniversary of the first race run in 1959, won by Lee Petty. The Harley J. Earl Trophy, which goes to the winner of the race, will be plated in gold instead of silver to commemorate this event. The race is scheduled to be the first Daytona 500 run using NASCAR's Car of Tomorrow, which was introduced in 2007, and become standard as of 2008.

Daytona 500 winners Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson and Mario Andretti, sitcom star Jason Lee, TV host Kelly Ripa, and action sport legend Tony Hawk among others, put their artistic talents to the test to help commemorate the 50th running of NASCAR’s crown jewel stock car race. Daytona International Speedway's “Celebrity Tickets for Charity” competition, where the design of the most sought-after ticket in motorsports history was chosen from submissions provided by celebrities, with fans having a voice in the decision. Those fans chose ten designs - four from past race winners - and a blue ribbon panel made up of NASCAR's family selected comedian/game show host Jeff Foxworthy's design as the winner.

The #28 was not retired after Davey Allison. Its been running in NASCAR Cup ever since then.

I liked Thompson. I also like most of what Ron Paul says.

Now that Thompson and Tancredo are out, Ron is definitely my first choice.

Now that's what I call thinking.

A lot of people think that NASCAR is just a "southern sport". They run races in Chicago and Michigan. In fact, one of my favorite drivers, Matt Kenseth is a Wisconsin native.

Tony Stewart, even though I don't like him, has a dirt track here in Ohio....plus NASCAR races in California also.

We have made contact with Don Garlits people early this week by a few of the connected folks. Maybe we could lend a little support to get Big Daddy on board with us by sending polite e-mails saying why he should give us a hand. He knows Dr Paul very well (over 20 years) so we need not explain that part only our mission to place a sponsorship on a Daytona Car. Mr Garlits help would be very important to the cause.

As a nascar fan myself i think this is an excellent idea if they don't make any last minute decision to not let it happened. How about they fly the RP blimp around during the race too. When you attend them races you can still see pretty good distance away, so they got a large area to advertise in with that blimp. You know all them fans will look up at it.
