Tschaikovsky's Greatest Hits
I love Tchaikovsky, at least I'm pretty sure I do, based on "The Nutcracker".

However, outside of that, I'm just not sure what else there is without deep-diving and maybe landing on a few stinkers that might sour me to the purpose.

Please post "Greatest Hits" and let's have a sampling of the more memorable pieces.

Like I said, I'm pretty familiar with Nutcracker, but for those who aren't, feel free to post those hits too.

I'll start with my favorite

I like a slower version

I know what you mean about diving and being soured.

I think all the acclaimed composers have phenomenal, almost inhuman achievements, but if I dig through a catalog then it feels like I'm hearing too much, like I jumped into the deep end and there's too much water.

Re: Tschaikovsky's Greatest Hits
Van Cliburn playing Tschaikovsky's First Piano Concerto to win the competition in Moscow at the peak of the cold war. He played so well and won the hearts of the Russian audience. The judges called Khrushchev to see if was OK to award the top prize to an American.

"Cliburn famously tore into Tchaikovsky's first piano concerto, awing the Soviet judges. But they remained unsure whether they could give the prize to an American. As the popularly recounted story goes, the judges sought Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev's approval. "Is he the best?" Khrushchev asked. The judges replied yes. "Then give him the prize," Khrushchev said."

IDK how this is FTW it's just long chords held forever.

Where's the through line and melody?

Re: Tschaikovsky's Greatest Hits
While his 5th Symphony is widely regarded as his best, his 4th is my favorite, and perhaps even more emotional.

Here's a song about Stravinsky's Only Hit...

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water. And east is east and west is west, and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce, they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.
