They are saying its because of veterans day......since when did liberals need veterans day off? Lol

Where I teach we were told this year that there are not enough substitutes to fill in, so our grade level teachers have to "come up with something" if one of us needs a day off!!!! Like that is easy! I mean, we cannot exactly call 18 parents at 5 am if we are sick and tell them not to send their kids to school. And, just letting them come to school to be crammed into another classroom with another full class with 1 teacher is another nightmare. No one wants to sub. One reason is that the subs are over-the-top scared of Covid and assume they'll catch it from the kids. Another reason is that the kids are off the hook behavior wise this year since they spent 1.5 years at home on the couch with nonstop snacks and no discipline before this school year.

I'd get out myself, but I assume no one is going to hire an unvaccinated teacher. Most likely I'll get an invite to leave as soon as mandates kick in anyway. God only knows what they will do with fewer teachers AND no subs. But, my guess is, that will not stop them from letting the unvaccinated go.

500 seems like too many! Sounds like almost ALL the teachers want the day off at BOTH districts!
