Building a community. They ended up leaving the city to live on family land. They grew potatoes that they would trade with relatives who raised grains or meat. They develop a tight knit community to get through.


The other thing was that barter only really works when there is trust. It is much better to trade with someone you know than a stranger who will clean you out

Also talked about how the last thing people would barter would be their gold wedding rings, that people would know you are desperate, and would take advantage of you.

I would compare this guy to Ferfal who wrote books about Argentina's collapse. I'm definitely going to look for more of his stuff as he has interesting stories to tell.

The writing seems to be on the wall unfortunately.

Lots of people like her at all levels of government these days.

I was talking to an elderly friend of mine who inquired about he hyperinflation in Wiemar Germany. I mentioned other places that had gone through the same thing. Zimbabwe in the mid aughts, Hungary in the 50s, Russia in the 90s, Argentina, Roman debasement, the inventors of paper currency (China), Confederate collapse, not worth a continental.. etc.

He was amazed and a little scared by it.

Yeah, seems to happen over and over again, and within a generation, everyone seems to forget about it (except those who live through it)

There are so many of these generations and now with the internet the warnings are all here for us to read.

What brings a society out of hyperinflation, besides war?

In the past countries tried to revalue their currency against some kind of static asset like precious metals. I have no idea what a world wide hyperinflation spell would lead to.
