I am so isolated, I can't tell if this is mockery or not.

I know Bob Evans mashed potatoes are a dim replica of some actual fine home made potatoes....

but I lack the skill and knowledge to create real mashed potatoes, and since the mashed potato is not my favorite part of the meal, I have to settle for the frozen microwaved version smothered in gravy (which I will make from scratch..or at least try to).

But I'm sure having dinner with your mom beats having dinner alone. I hope you appreciate it. My mom has passed on I would give everything I own to have thanksgiving dinner with her one more time.
