It's not like people at the meatpacking plants jerk off all over your turkey
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80771016

It's a dead body that has been festering in a wrapper for a week or more. Maybe some families rinse the turkey off and then clean up the sink and surrounding area, like they aren't retarded like the CDC.

Does the CDC recommend that you wash your hands after you take a shit, or do you just put gloves on? Washing your hands at the sink might spread e-coli germs.
How about washing the lettuce that the field workers got shit on when they wiped their ass with it?

I'm pretty sure the CDC has outlived their usefulness.
 Quoting: Pilgrim001

Exactly! If you can't figure out how to rinse a turkey off without spreading juice all over the kitchen then you probably shouldn't be in charge of the cooking.

I'm not sure slathering chlorinated city water all over it it the healthiest thing but you gotta wash it.

Washing your meat before you cook its is a handed down tradition some families have. These people who do this are so goddamm adamant, they will completely going into rage if you ask them not to do it. It's some compulsory thing in their head. Like the monkeys who was their sweet potatoes in the mangrove swamps before they eat them. No real reason to, they just saw another monkey do it.

I've been cooking food for a living for 20 years and there's absolutely zero reasons you should rinse the meat off. And there's actually reasons you SHOULDNT rinse it. But for asthetic reasons.

Re: CDC: Don’t Wash Your Thanksgiving Turkey
With Thanksgiving almost here, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued tips on the safest way to prepare your turkey.

First of all, you should not wash or rinse your bird. That may seem counterintuitive, but washing the turkey can spread germs and bacteria all over your kitchen.
[link to www.webmd.com (secure)]

Do not wash or rinse raw turkey. Federal food safety advice has recommended against washing turkey or chicken since 2005, but some habits are hard to break. A 2020 survey* found that 78% of participants reported washing or rinsing turkey before cooking. Old recipes and family cooking traditions may tempt you to keep this practice going, but it can make you and your family sick. Poultry juices can spread in the kitchen and contaminate other foods, utensils, and countertops.

so you wipe off or spray where you did it.. the above is utterly stupid. you spread all sorts of germs in your kitchen and thankyou but when I used to do the turkey thing... or the chicken thing or any other thing which might have bacteria on it.. I washed it pretty much.. like vegetables and such too.

You will spread the germs all over from your turkey even more if you don't wash it. and I like to wash the inside to leave a clean inside for my stuffing. whatever...

The CDC has lost all credibility.

I would not listen to their advice on which nose trimmer to buy.

They are congenital liars and they are a classic "captive agency" --- draining taxpayer money off the public while doing nothing but supporting big Pharma and power hungry elites.

With the proper sink and an extra hand to operate the nozzle and squirt the soap, it becomes a pretty simple sanitary practice.

Either way, oven or fryer is gonna kill anything bad.

This is fucking ridiculous. These mofos at the CDC need to get a real job.

The vats they dip the butchered birds in to rinse them off generally contain high levels of feces ECT .
It is a very unclean process in some respects . I rense store bought birds off very well or I can actually smell and taste the contaminents from the factory bath .

I will always wash meat. Steaks (per Julia Child) chicken and Turkey.

There is a bit of slime on pre packed meat. You don’t wanna eat that.

I deep sanitize my sinks and counters afterwards with bleach. It is a habit I do after each slime fest of meat cleansing.

If the CDC says it, do the opposite. We already know they want us dead or sick.

Imagine, THIS YEAR many immune systems compromised. That's why, I think all of the sudden...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73809328

It's probably the reason they are starting to push the flu vaccine.

Last year, the flu vaccine was being pushed hard in Aug, at least here. This year, nothing really on the Telelie about them until this week.

When the Telelie's news start talking about turkeys, I knew then that there was something wrong.

Here, on the news, they talked of a "turkey shortage", however the stores are stocked with plenty, at low prices. Then there's the give-away of a free turkey.

Nope, something is definitely is wrong with those turkeys.

I didn't buy one or cared for the free offer.

Well...It isn't ANYONE'S secret (unless you have been under
a ROCK for the past 1 1/2!) that there is currently an
"agenda" by someone UNKNOWN for a depopulation program.

I find the CDC warning to "NOT WASH YOUR TURKEY" to be
very suspect especially given all the BAD ADVICE around
the pandemic that is coming out of this corrupt agency.

My feeling is that there could very well be SOMETHING
ADDED to the surface of these turkeys which "plays-into-the
pandemic-agenda" (how it does I have ZERO CLUE...just a
hunch)...and by WASHING OFF THE TURKEY you are lessening
the effectiveness of whatever the "agent" added to the
bird may be.

Just between you and me...I'm WASHING my damned turkey
and will be sanitizing all the areas around my sink after
the wash just to be cautious. I'm also using RUBBER GLOVES
to handle it. I hope we get feed-back from ANYONE WHO
WASHED THEIR TURKEY and has "adverse health effects" after
Thanksgiving day meal!

Remember that quote by John Cusack in "2012"...
"...WHEN THEY SAY YOU'RE SAFE...THAT'S WHEN YOU RUN!"

Seems to me they'd rather you spread around any salmonella or other bacteria that gets into the air from the bird sitting out in the open before it goes into the oven. Washing it right after unwrapping flushes the bacteria away immediately. CDC is intentionally weakening immune systems so why would they give advice to prevent sickness?
