Well, now I know why I wasn't getting customers at my Turkey Wash.

Amazing, how I've survived all these decades without the guiding hand of daddy government.

We all know that anything that dies expels its bowels. Smart to wash off the e-coli and salmonella and packaged turkey slime.

Why wash it and possibly spread salmonella everywhere. Just pop it in the oven. It will kill all pathogens and your bird comes out disinfected.

The one that wants the masses to handle turkeys with smallpox rubbed on their skin so the new pandemic begins.

Thats only true for pathogens that are heat sensitive.

Some pathogens can withstand high heat, and in fact replicate more with heat.

Give me an example of a pathogen on turkey that can survive several hours in a 350 degree oven..... If that shit is on your bird... it's too late to worry about it. Pack your bag for a hospital visit.

2. 3-4 days before T-Giving blow its head off with a .357 bird shot load
3. Wait for the twitching to stop
4. Pluck and dress
5. Brine turkey for 24 hours
6. place turkey in refrigerator until ready to cook
7. Rinse turkey off
8. Smoke turkey in gas smoker for 4 hours
9. Remove from smoker, season and stuff
10. Finish roasting turkey in roaster
11. Let turkey rest for 30 minutes
12. Slice turkey
13. Enjoy

My brother used to be an power engineer in a chicken slaughter plant.
I know not turkeys but its similar.
He said they put some chemical concoction into the birds now that kills salmonella and other crap.
That plus cooking would kill all bacteria etc.
Might be different in the u.s..
I forget what he said they used but it was pretty toxic shit.

I like to catch my turkeys and hang them upside down. They fall asleep, then you cut their little heads off. They are so relaxed they don’t even move.

Do you really take the time to pluck your turkeys? I’m lazy, I skin mine. Use bacon on the breasts.

Smoked turkey is da bomb! I prefer a mix of fruit tree and hickory.

This has been a debate in my family for longer than I can remember, so this year we toss in some COVID and now it's just hilarious.

I've been a gourmet "Foodie" for decades and I can tell you that the debate about to wash or not wash a bird is about 50/50, one side saying yes wash it and the other side saying don't.

Personally, I can taste when a bird hasn't been washed and I don't like that taste, so, I wash the bird.

I'm also very good at bacteria control. I clean as I go, and every place raw bird has been, or even been washed, I spray down with a bleach spray.

Never been sick from bird and no, don't want that nasty film of slime that builds up before it gets to my house. Wash the bird, then bleach down your sink area. Four sprays, chooch choooch chooch chooch, then a little wipedown with the paper towel which goes into the trash. That's it.

What kind of moron thinks washing the turkey is gonna do anything besides spread germs all over their kitchen sink?
