Not only are parts extremely scarce but they have doubled and even in some cases TRIPLED in cost! That one hit me in the gut. I just need shocks, struts and a new windshield. Struts are either unavailable and listed at rather standard prices or doubled in cost. Windshield has tripled from 170 to over 400 bucks. When I'm done there I'll just need some minor things and she's winter ready. The nearest junkyard closed up a year ago so I travel far to one and they usually don't have my vehicle there. I've been lucky for most parts but lately no dice. Food has obviously gone way up too. Everyone I spoke with spent quite a lot this year for Thanksgiving. The great shitstorm has arrived. Also hard to get, I ordered some lowering springs for my Porsche and was told they’d be here in 3 weeks. I month later I checked and they told me sorry another 6 or 7 months ( from Germany )…I then cancelled O70 |

I've stocked up on various items for my older vehicles that way. Have a box of all of the most common parts to fail on my older truck. Confirmed - Rockauto is THE SPOT - best prices I've found - just MAKE SURE it's the part you need (check pics and the part on the car because just like the box stores sometimes stuff is labeled wrong) I've always beat rockauto prices at eBay, except once Walmart online supplied a headlight switch, AC Delco. Antifreeze ... $16 for concentrate. Small utility trailer, was $1250, now $1799 .. on sale! |
Copperhead User ID: 80522000 United States 11/28/2021 07:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I bought a 2014 GMC 1500 pickup truck last year. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26669668 I've put about 25,000kms on it since then and I can sell it for about $4k more than I bought it for. Problem is to replace it will cost me too much. Everything is being jacked up in price by plan and on purpose. THEY are crashing the economy on purpose. I bought a 2018 Tacoma 3 years ago. I had planned on getting a used one with 30k miles or so on it. But dang, the used ones were as expensive as the new ones that were leftover 2018s with incentives. I lucked out. Right after that, things got really screwy and prices jumped on both new and used. I have a friend's 1989 Ford Bronco stored here. It runs, but needs lots of work. Pretty beat up. He told me it is worth $6-8K the way it sits. I told him he was dreaming. No...he was right! Those old Broncos are sweet. I'd restore it and use it for a daily driver. |

I hear from acquaintances in Quebec that GMC/Chevy Trucks are almost impossible to get. (FWIW, they are also talking about self-sufficiency and getting back to the land. Quebecois are usually in a bubble (in a self-reliant way) and don't react to everything that is going on in the Anglophone world, but now they even talk of Biden and crap happening in USA.) |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77245256 They rate the condition of each part, sometimes have photos, and the price. (some don't list price, so you have to call and haggle) Then you just call the individual salvage yard and have them ship it. Awesome resource. Thank you! |

Furrry Pete User ID: 81217224 United States 11/28/2021 07:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Its ugly! My property taxes and lot rent each went up 30$. Remember the covid money?... Lesson, if the govt gives you an egg it means theyre gonna steal your chicken. I own a mobile home on property I own. The home is about 28 years old. For 25 years, the home was assessed at the same value I paid for it. The past two years, the value (and my taxes on the home) have increased each year. Please explain to me how a 25+ year old mobile home can appreciate in value? The damn thing is falling apart. Nor Cal Mine too. Unfortunately as property becomes more valuable, the more they raise the taxes. I no longer pay them in full. I pay some reasonable amount on them every month to keep them from going into foreclosure which will result in an amount we can't pay, which is what they really want. Same with the power co. Every winter I get them to give me an installment plan and pay on it monthly. Then in the spring and summer, when we need way less, I keep making the payments and then start over in the winter. Alcohol and drugs eat up a lot of money, we don't have that expense at all. If you feel you need it, try budgeting. People can make their own if they really want to. People need to learn how to cook. For supper we made pasta with beef strips, (organic) 7 dollars, onion, garlic, tomato soup, for two, about 10 dollars. Oranges, cocoa, coffee as needed. I really think this mess is going to go on for about 4 more years at least, but all we have to do is persevere until the end, whatever that is. "It's a friendly friendly world" (Andy Kaufman) Calm seas do not a sailor make, Nor easy horses, a horseman. And Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water And he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower and when He could be certain only drowning men could see Him- Leonard Cohen |

After the cigarette machine, it's less than a $1US per pack. 5 lbs of pipe tobacco is like $56,the tubes are about $39, plus shipping it's roughly $110 and will make about 125 packs. You can get good quality tobacco cheaper at jrcigars dot com, but they don't have the brand my husband prefers so I pay more. They are also better for you than commercial cigarettes. Makes it much cheaper to stock up too. |

Yoga pants and sweatpants were in abundance but No slacks or blouses. So I tried Macy’s same shit. I asked the sales girl what was going on? She said they were scraping the bottom of the barrel for clothes. She told me the only way to buy the slacks were online!!!! I went online and low and behold they had tons of Business casual clothes. A pair of grey slacks were $67 forget it. I went to the local thrift store and bought 3 pair and a few blouses for $50 bucks. Even that was kinda high. They want us to shop online for everything!!!!! I refuse I will buy my clothes from yard sales and thrift stores from now on. I forgot to mention all the clothes were beige and browns at both JCPennys and Macy’s. So weird??? J |

girlie45 User ID: 80424836 United States 11/28/2021 07:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As a vegetarian, I eat a lot of beans. For ease, I buy canned. Cannelloni beans are difficult to find, if not impossible. Today the vegetarian refried beans I normally buy were $1.39 a can. Four months ago, they were $1.20, and I could sometimes snag them on sale for a 1.00. Not anymore. I am lucky If I can even find them. Hub and I went out for one last restock on non-perishables. Everything we purchased was at least .10 cents more. We have been stocking up due to higher prices every week. My electricity bill this time of year is normally $85.00, it was $160.00, and I have less people living with me since the kids are gone. I have no idea how we keep our head above water if this continues. Last Edited by girlie45 on 11/28/2021 07:26 PM |
