ArmouredKitten User ID: 81063672 United States 11/28/2021 09:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just want to say, first of all, I am very happy to hear that kratom has reduced OPs alcohol consumption, and has very likely experienced an increase of enjoyment and satisfaction with life. However, as one who has used kratom to quit using heroin, I must interject and say that kratom definitely is not an opiate, but it does have opiate-like effects. By that I mean that the constituent alkaloids present in the leaves of Mytragyna Speciosa (kratom tree) are primarily Mytragynine, which absolutely are partial mu-opioid receptor agonist. That is to say, kratom agonizes (aka stimulates) the very same receptors that opiates do. The point of me making this distinction is to say that yes, 100%, if you use kratom frequently enough, your body will experience withdrawal after you stop taking it for a period of time (that period of time depends on the frequency and dose you are accustomed to). Now all of that being said, Kratom has absolutely saved my life, my family, and my future. We're it not for kratom, I could very well still be shooting heroin that I bought by selling the belongings of myself and everyone that ever was stupid enough to care about me. It is a double-edged sword, however. Kratom alleviates the desire for opiates, alcohol, etc, and provides an energy boost when it comes to physical labor. But the tradeoff is within (at least in my case) my very own personality. I am very much more short with people. I do not like socializing. Granted I don't know how different this is from how I usually am because I haven't been totally sober for more than a few months in the past 15 years. I don't really know what my goal is with this post is other than to say that Kratom does have addictive and habituating properties. -Why are you wearing that stupid man suit? :armouredkitten: |

Just Passing Through..... *MOLON LABE* User ID: 74490151 United States 11/28/2021 09:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | so before all this i was a pain pill addict... but i quit all that, then i became an alcoholic.. Quoting: CSUadmin then, with kratom, i've cut that to a reasonable amount... as in, i dont necessarily drink EVERY day...and when i do, it's like less than a 6 pack. it's crazy how bad a rap kratom gets though.. (i know because i was guilty of it) before i actually TRIED kratom and for any amount of time.. i didnt understand.. it's NOT an opiate. it doesn't have the opiate withdrawal... direct evidence of this is how it DOES NOT interfere with, say, oxycodone.. i have real, chronic pain.. and every now and then i need an actual oxycodone.... and even while taking the kratom for the last 6 months, the few times i've taken oxy, it is a DISTINCT DIFFERENT feeling, then the kratom.. and it doesn't matter if i have a little tolerance built to the kratom, it doesn't take away from the effect of the oxy. also, you can take both, and feel them differently. kratom is from the coffee family, and it DOES, actually feel like coffee, when you take it at the same time as a full agonist opiate. Kratom, like all things has its use and it's use requires moderation. It's that simple. When I'm really hurting from a day of tree work, I take some green maeng da and some Red Sumatra and I'm good. When I'm tired I drink some coffee. When I have a headache I take some CBD. When i have joint pain I take some DMSO. We were given a beautiful world with everything we need. Kratom included, just don't take it all the time or withdraels will find you. I say this as someone who naively let my doctor turn me into a pain pill abuser for 5 years. I know misery. Kratom is a tool. Wield it responsibly. It’s a scam drug. I started out just like the OP and then ended up with a 120 gram per day habit. My habit was so high that I couldn’t even find another person that could touch it on any obscure Internet forums for addiction. The closest I found was someone that claimed they were using around 90 grams per day. In the end, I found Kratom withdrawal to be far worse than opiate withdrawal. Bottom line, if you already suffer from ANY addictive tendencies, stay as far away from Kratom as you can get. OP, you’ve been warned here. Remember my response 6 months from now when you’re searching for a specialty doctor to help you come off the stuff. I’m 3 years clean from Kratom and all substances - and the only answer for a genuine addict is complete abstinence. There is no middle ground. |

Wow you have issues, I've been on 3.85 grams for 2 years. How the f*ck man. You probably have more issues than Kratom. I find any higher doses 4 grams produces negative effects. Also, I've read people who have heroin withdrawal and say kratom is Disneyland compared to benzodiazapines (xanax, ativan). Xanax is a common "safe" prescription anti-anxiety drug that produces off the chart dopamine levels and its withdrawal can possibly lead to death if done "cold turkey." Which is safer??? There is no middle ground. yeah 120 grams a day? wtf man? i've already been down the opiate road, i quit with methadone, and then suboxone... when i started methadone i was using iv heroin daily... like half a gram a day in 2 or 3 injections... or like 2 80mg oxy's daily, or 2-3 dilaudid 4's... with methadone i went up to ~70-80mg daily, then tapered it slowly to 40mg... then switched to suboxone.. first at 16mg daily, then to 8mg, then slowly to 4mg... then i ended up going cold turkey from there.. which was still too high to cold turked and i had the most horrible withdrawal ever.. in my opiate years, i withdrew at different times from basically every opiate.. so i know all about withdrawal.. kratom isn't even on the map.. it's more mild than even codeine... i dont know how anyone could take 120g a day, that's nuts.. i take like... 4g in the morning, and 4 more grams later in the day.... and only take it on work days. |

Great pain medicine with energy and mood boost. It works good for severe back and arthritis joint pain. I use it to get stuff done, not to get high.
