I couldn't find any article but I'm assuming it's the GaN/Gallium Nitride technology....

I was contemplating buying one on Black Friday but the Amazon reviews were all the same... Crazy hot temperatures.

yes
I never use mine anyway, it degrades battery life faster.
It's better to charge the phone through a regular USB 3.0 port on your computer. 1A max when charging IMO

Sensitive to radar.the plan for flight 370 was to place a nuke in a pallet of lithium batteries and set it off in bejing.in case of change in plan then shoot plane with high wattage radar from navy vessel to set it on fire and blame the pallet for crash.the fire would not set off nuke.the nuke would turn into a thermal nuke with the added lithium if it went off.
Nice little trick.

So yes,they fear fires triggered by radar.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), today announced it is issuing an emergency order to ban all Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphone devices from air transportation in the United States. Individuals who own or possess a Samsung Galaxy Note7 device may not transport the device on their person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage on flights to, from, or within the United States. This prohibition includes all Samsung Galaxy Note7 devices. The phones also cannot be shipped as air cargo. The ban will be effective on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at noon ET.
