Earthquake Swarms at Yellowstone Unreported | |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 279081 United States 02/01/2008 07:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just something to keep an eye on considering the uplift that hasnt stopped in the caldera. Uplift and earthquake swarms are a sign of eruptive activity in most volcanoes just depends on if they continue and get larger i would suppose, in any case i watch the earthquakes daily and never saw this swarm reported until this morning also nothing in the news about it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 291612 United States 02/01/2008 07:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have been to Yellowstone many times and earthquake swarms are not at all uncommon. However, the fact that they seem to completely ignore them is notable. I was there 5 years ago on my third trip to Cody Wyoming in a year and this last trip they had closed off an entire section of the park due to thermal instability. 3 Park rangers were killed when a brand new geiser erupted beneath their feet and they were hit with steam. Also, all the fish began dying off in Yellowstone lake and there was a ridge over 100' tall and 7 miles long tha had built up at the bottom of the lake. The temp at the bottom of the lake was 82 degrees then and this is a glacier fed lake. Additionally, the trails in the closed area were sealed off as the temperature of the earth only 1" beneath the surface of the paths was over 200 degree F... When the expansion of the caldera stops and then begins to contract, then we may have a major problem on the way as when it collapses into itself, they believe that it will erupt again. The big question will be how fast does it collapse and how big will the eruption be. There are several calderas within the yellowstone crater which is 330 miles long and over 180 miles wide... Big volcano is putting it mildly. The yellowstone Hotspot has a 600 mile diameter as well and its border has the following volacanoes on its edge... Rainier St. Helens Shasta Baker 3 Sisters Crater Lake and several more |

Bison have been found dead and confirmed that they died of poisonous fumes they inhaled. There is alot of things they do not report, at least not nationally. Interesting to note is that UNICEF has been aggressively taking over areas near the caldera as a UN Biosphere. Yellowstone National Park, since it is named a UNICEF official site, is the property and under the control of the UN as are all UNICEF sites. Even Independence hall is a UNICEF global heritage site and belongs to the UN. Our leaders are gifting our nation away. Just wait until they pass the L.O.S.T. treaty wherein they will replace our coast guard with UN patrol boats and take over all major rivers and waterwways... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 365983if that thing ever blew, on top of it would be the BEST place to be. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 365828 Bulgaria 02/01/2008 09:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | February 1, 2008 Western Quakes There have been a series of quakes in Southern Nevada and Southern Utah this week which may indicate a movement of magma from the California subduction zone up to Yellowstone in Wyoming. This will also cause the possibility of larger quakes in the region from Southern California through to Salt Lake City and into Wyoming. The Pacific Region is worse than ever. Large quakes and volcanic eruptions are occurring deep under the Pacific Ocean and most are not being reported on USGS or by media. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 365828[link to www.iceagenow.com] I think it’s caused by underwater volcanism, not by humans. As our seas warm, more and more moisture rises into the sky. Then it condenses and falls to the earth as giant storms and blizzards, the kind of storms and blizzards we’ve been getting lately. That’s what El Niño is all about. My question is, what happens when that moisture begins falling in the winter? Instantaneous ice age. And that’s what I’m talking about. Our seas, heated by underwater volcanism, are leading us directly into the next ice age . . . and we don’t even know it. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 369430 United States 02/07/2008 03:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Another swarm of earthquakes on Feb. 3, 2008 no news about it anywhere. The total number of earthquakes has been increasing by 2X every month since November. This has to be reported to the public. The USGS is worried, and don't listen to anything Dr. Bob Smith says. It is going to erupt soon. |
